My Numeric Keys on key pad are not working within the game. I can’t get them to work in the keybindings either. Hubby was holding down the shift key when a window opened in game, and since then…No Numeric keys on the key pad. Anyone have any ideas?
Do you mean the numpad? Windows has shift+NM hard coded to be Home, up, Pg Up, left, right, End, Pg Down, and down.
You can use them without the shift modifier (control and alt work fine, for example.)
There is no way around this without third party software.
Num Lock or Number Lock (⇭) is a key on the numeric keypad of most computer keyboards. It is a lock key, like Caps Lock and Scroll Lock. Its state affects the function of the numeric keypad commonly located to the right of the main keyboard and is commonly displayed by an LED built into the keyboard.
Assuming this isn’t just a num lock issue as mentioned above, one thing you said made me think you might have turned sticky keys on accidentally.
Pressing the shift key repeatedly can pop up a thing to turn on sticky keys though your num pad should still work with it on I would think.
You can try to turn sticky keys off in accessibility settings in windows if it’s on (or press shift 5 times in a row). If that was on when you didn’t want it to be you can turn off the keyboard shortcut to turn it on in windows settings for sticky keys.
These have all been good ideas and I have tried them all. It is the actual number keys on the key pad that will not work within the game. I’ve even tried removing the device from the system and rebooting.
Yeah, you can only use them with Num Lock on, and not with Shift as a modifier (there is one exception, but for WoW I do believe it requires third party assistance.)
The exception is essentially if WoW can detect Shift+Num# as Shift and Num# rather than Num# modified by Shift, and to my knowledge WoW has no way to force this.
the popup when you hold shift is about sticky keys.
idk why it would affect numpad tho.
thats usually a numlock problem but it’s been mentioned already.
Turn off all your addons and then go under options and reset your keybinds back to default (there it a button for this). Then see if something like toggling autorun and walk works (the “/” key on the numpad).
Assuming that works, bind other keys to the numpad and verify it still works.
If things still work, re-enable some/all addons and see if things still work. If it stops working again at this step, it’s certainly an addon breaking things and you get to turn them all off and enable them 1 by 1 or in small groups until you narrow down the culprit. Odds are if this is the case it’s probably some kind of ancient addon that’s long been abandoned or something.
I am having the same problem as you described. Any chance you found a solution yet?
