Not just Humans either.
Though I guess all those Human NPCs with Asian and African names who existed since Classic WoW will have faces to match now.

NPCs have faces? I thought they were all just !s or ?s.
TIL.
I was surprised to learn they’re more than 1s and 0s.
That is awesome! We must band together and maintain a positive formation, lest this thread take off and devolve into madness.
I also need to proof read.
100% of the player population will never notice the change. No one cares about guards. Or NPC diversity. All they care about is the loot
lol do they do math or something to decide how many they need of each color
Well I think people are getting too scared by the word “diversity.” It’s not “All your NPCs are black now.”
It’s all the NPCs will have more randomized appearances. So more than 4 guard models. It’s a little change that goes a long way for the games visuals.
if you play first person maybe it will go a way for the games visuals
It does make me wonder what determines skin tone and facial structure in Azeroth. Probably magic or randomness.
Then again, it’s probably best to not think too much about it and just let it be and enjoy it.
That makes perfect sense. Nameless NPCs are usually just a mish-mash of whatever player customization options exist; if those options expand, so should the NPCs.
Maybe? Though if you actually read the quoted interview they say–
we’re not going to change existing named, established characters and make them look different. But, walking around Stormwind, walking around other parts of the world, you will see guards and random civilians that have these looks as if they’ve been there all along.
So its hard to say. From the sounds of it only the Randomly Generated NPC’s like “Stormwind Guard” and unnamed citizen NPC’s will be getting changes in their appearance.
I wouldn’t mind them going back and adding a bit of flavor to some of the pre-established NPC’s though. NPC’s like the Wildhammer Dwarves in Hinterlands and Twilight Highlands for example.
