I’ll check those out
It feels like Beast Cleave isn’t generating any (or enough) threat. It’s forcing me to use Misdirection on cd and Feign Death to send aggro to pets.
I can confirm the Kobyss are casting on the hunter, not the pet.
I can also confirm that the there are some mobs that are still losing interest in the pet even if not touched by the hunter. So you send the pet into 3 mobs (A,B,C), you focus mob A with both yourself and the pet. Autoshot with growl on. Enemy B,C will sometimes come for the hunter eventually. Also, any adds they spawn will come for the hunter.
Another other aggro oddness is that when Hati is spawned as an extra from ‘pack leader’ abilities. After the fight is over and he is still up, all the other pets will run back to the hunter. Hati will break from the pack and run out away from the hunter and grab a mob that is outside hunter range and initiate a new combat. This is a mob I previously targeted, but did not engage.
I didn’t even know this bcuz I don’t have the Hati talent. It’s so odd that there is just radio silence on Blizzard’s end, like no acknowledgment or anything about all of this. Like the Kobyss and even other creatures like the wasps and eagles will hit me and not my pet with venom and bleed effects. Like I did the Eagle Eye, Eagle Die quest the other day, and just getting hit twice by the eagle’s bleed effect was close to killing me. One hit does half my health by the time the bleed expires, and it’s the same with the wasps. Just regular trash mobs should not be doing that much damage, and if they are, it should be targeted on the pet, not hunter.
This is really sucking in delves when the nerubian casters just straight up target me with million+ hitting spells at tier 8.
Yes, hunters are now having severe problems with aggro. not sure what they changed. but the main thing appears to be that growl is no longer affecting multiple targets. in the past it just raised the threat level of the pet but now it appears to be more of a focused ability. either way, yes. Our pets are losing aggro quickly as well as dying quickly too. I started using my gorilla to help counteract some of the problems. things seemed to have smoothed out a lil now that im at max and have decent ilvl
From my experience, this is not an aggro issue, this felt related to casts being targeted at player and melee abilities at pet…
Really bothering … gotta sit and eat after each pack
Same issue here. Was just now targeted even after using FD. This is ridiculously frustrating.
Yep. I have had a fundamental rule to live by regarding this game since vanilla and that is “Tooltips lie”, because abilities don’t always work as advertised.
Yep, I’m really struggling in the delves with the nerubian casters as well, especially when there’s a group of three or more all targeting me lol
Yeah, I have had a bit of trouble with aggro, but it’s definitely the casting is what I’m really having an issue with. At this point, I honestly think this was an intended thing that they just never mentioned. Maybe to make hunters more reliant on Brann as a healer in delves or something, instead of double damage. Maybe they thought we would have too much of an advantage in delves? Idk. But whatever it is, it feels horrible, and I don’t have any hope that they will fix it.
I leveled an Earthen Paladin (ret) from 10 to 80 in about 17 hours. It is ridiculous how much easier everything is on him. I can pull more mobs, face roll DPS (that is insanely higher both ST and AOE than my BM hunter). Delves are not as…intimidating, if at all on the paladin. On my hunter it feels like a chore to do them (or frankly any content that has more than one mob to dealt with).
While leveling the hunter, I never, not ONCE got better than 3rd place DPS in a dungeon, usually I was 4th only beating healers. Mind you, this has been my main since 2004 with about 319 days played alone (not including my other hunters).
While leveling the paladin, I was shocked if I did not see first place. He was just about always first in DPS AOE and more of then than not ST. If I did not get first in ST, it was 2nd.
Ohh, and hunter had better gear from top to bottom when leveling. My paladin had whatever I was able to scub together at 70/71.
lol I’ve been feeling the same way. My hunter has been my main since legion, but now I am thinking about maining my ret pally. I’ve also just been sticking to follower dungeons for my hunter at this point. Dont wanna make anyone mad lol
Not gonna lie, the hunter doing so poorly vs anyone around me started to turn me off the game. I prefer ranged (never liked melee). Its ridiculous that I can pick up the paladin in lesser gear and face roll 2 to 3x the damage my hunter does.
But I dont want to main the pally though…so not sure what I am gonna do.
The more and more I play, the more and more I think you might be right. Or at least on the right track. Maybe not coded to cast against 2nd on aggro list, but probably coded to cast against the hunter. It definitely feels intended at this point, especially with all the radio silence about it on their end. I really think it has something to do with delves, since delves are a way to get great vault rewards and progress. I think they wanted to make it so hunters had to rely on Brann for healing and not damage, so that we arent OP in delves. It really sucks in the open world though.
I’m sorry it does really suck. I hope we at least get an answer or something soon. It’s really frustrating.
