NPC Stealth Detection BIG

Currently NPCs with stealth detection don’t seem to be taking stealth level or character level into account.

For example: In Gnomregan there are security bots. If you stand along the edge and let them walk past unstealthed they dont aggro. However, if you stand in the same spot stealthed, they will stop and look at you. Possibly even aggro…

This has specifically affected strat stealth runs I used to do back in vanilla which are now completely impossible.

The goul NPC’s have true sight in stratholm, allowing them to see you in stealth just like the security bots.

As for the agro radius while stealthed vs not, that’s really an interesting find, it’s possible that it’s just a moden wow engine thing that snuck in if your stealth runs are as you say they are possible in original vanilla.

I’m aware mobs in strat have truesight, that’s why its relevant to this bug. You used to be able to distracting shot them and sneak around the back. This is now completely impossible.

I feel that I’ve noticed this as well in BRD with the dogs. It seems like being in stealth actually makes you have a wider aggro radius than being unstealthed.

thats exactly right … it does and its easy to test.

Bump please

Still unresolved

Will likely remain “unresolved” because this is functioning as it did in later Vanilla:

Players are complaining about some changes to stealth. Many say that mobs are seeing them from much further away than usual, and either turning or aggroing. In addition, the whelps in the BWL suppression room now see through stealth, where they never detected it before.

Stealth detection radius seems to be increased for mobs as well. Anyone else notice this? There’s some discussion of whether it’s because of MoD not working or a change to the ability itself.

Kind of subjective, but I’ve heard a lot of people running known paths that work running into problems.

Wow thank you for that link, this confirms something about sap thats been buggin me for a bit, in vanilla sap did not proc player auras but in this game it does, talking lighning shield, priest stuff, mage frost barrier, and so on. Its not consistent either but only takes place some of the time, other times it works as it did back in the day.

many of those bugs have actually been fixed in later 1.12 patch, but I can confirm that in tbc the stealth aggro range on mobs with stealth detection aura is greater than when non stealthed if the mobs are lower level than the rogue, but that was an issue on and off thoughtout vanilla and tbc, just depended on the patch, and cant remember if that was 1.12 or not. Kinda hope that they just fix all the dumb bugs that are in game, if it was not intended for vanilla wow, ya know just a working version of vanilla as it was suppose to be with out the inconsistent stuff that cursed game play form time to time.
