NPC Crafting Orders

The NPCs need to start providing the expensive materials. I shouldn’t have to buy an inverted prism for 10 acuity.

you dont.

you can… not do that order.

Try no cores of any kind day after day and order after order. I ask for rank 3 matts all day long when I craft for other people. I should expect the same from the NPC order system. Not to lose money on every order I fill because I do. On every single one.

So I just don’t do them!

You shouldn’t have to and there’s nobody forcing you to, so you don’t have to. Just like public orders with “no mats,” you can ignore NPC crafting order that aren’t worth it to you (I only take the NPC order if most mats were provided and it gives 2 spec points or 30 acuity).

I want the 10 acuity. The inverted prism is unreasonable.

If it’s unreasonable for 10 acuity, then don’t fulfil that order at your own cost out-of-pocket for the missing mats.

Just because you need 10 acuity, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t value the cost/reward of the NPC order and reject ones you assess as “not worth my time and gold.”

It’s a dumb argument. We shouldn’t be getting dead crafting orders.

I suspect if Blizzard coded it to only offer ALL mats, then there’d be a LOT less orders offered. Can’t have it both ways (all mats all the time and lots of free orders for skill/spec/acuity).

you should be happy you aren’t a blacksmith - they have the absolutely worst work orders in existence for cost.

Honestly I usually skip the expensive ones unless they include the majority of the materials, because the payout for those is simply not worth it.

Now if the gold amount for those orders was between 2-5k and they only appeared every so often? That I could work with buying some of the mats.

Cute.

Those 2 spec point ones are actually catch ups and you are only receiving them because you are so behind from constantly ignoring orders. Meanwhile, people who choose to fulfill the orders for 1 point are making progress faster than you. Just an FYI.

You are not going to change the mind of someone who argues for something that is unreasonable. We have a situation where AA is difficult to get with limited means of acquiring any and then they make the NPC custom orders which frequently cost maximum outlay for minimum reward.

Anyone who would find anything positive to say about it is frankly beyond my understanding. It may not be something you are forced to do but that doesn’t alter the fact that its perfectly ok to feel it is still a stupidly designed system.

I do NPC crafting orders every couple of days. The rewards are random. Acuity is common and the point tokens seem to be 50/50 for 1 or 2 points.

You are compared to someone who grinds each day since the start of the season. If you did every order every day, after a week or so, you would notice how much the 2 points ones vanish.

Interesting point, but I was never a try-hard crafter grinding every possible spec point as they become available. So from my perspective as a casual crafter mostly fulfilling crafting needs for my alts, I have a choice between good rewards (2 point or 30 acuity) or bad rewards (anything less, which I will continue to ignore). Maxing the spec tree as quickly as possible only seems worthwhile to me if I wanted to swim in the tiny pool full of shark-crafters and make gold from this nonsense activity… hard-pass.

Blacksmith is the only one i have yet to max out in level. mats are nuts to get on or off the AH. would love to get some NPC order that have all mats just to be blacksmith 90 but been stuck on 60 for weeks. some mats are a joke, here are the cheap mats but we will not give you the purple haha your on your own.
to those that say just don’t the one you can’t do well been doing that and that why i’m still have not hit 70 in blacksmithing.
system needs some work is your behind on crafting and you do the weekly one hoping for a few to raise your level. the number of all’s or the some mats should have more of the richer mats then the cheap ones.

Why not? DF literally gave us free acuity every week.

The trick to blacksmithing is to take the everburning forge tab to learn everburning ignition which, although it has a limited number of crafts per day, can be crafted cheaply and has skill gains all the way to max (allowing you to unlock the more interesting tabs as you go)

Then only do the low end work orders for KP while basically ignoring the epic orders (unless by fluke they offer all the rare mats)

It’s definitely a bit counter-intuitive.
