You know, the more I play in the Maw, the more I agree with you. I just discovered the debuff, Immediate Extermination. I asked how I get this stuff off me, and someone told me some B.S. about how you have to defeat the Eye raid boss.
Except that I wasn’t in a raid.
I let it kill me, thinking that would take it off, but no such luck.
So, I checked on reddit to see if anyone addressed this issue, and it’s just basically something you can’t get rid of until the next day when the dailies are reset.
So, basically, the Devs decided to restrict your time in the Maw, because if you spend (what they judge) to be too much time in the Maw, they will simply make sure you can’t. And I’m thoroughly disgusted with it. That is too micromanaging. It’s too controlling. It’s literally nothing they need to concern themselves with. If I choose to level up to 70, doing nothing but playing in the Maw, what is that to them?
It’s bad enough that the XP in that place is terrible. (I’ve done kills that reward 2 XP or 7 XP.)
We could probably create a whole thread talking about our exploiting our “safe haven” of Pet Battling.
I was on Timeless Isle in Pandaria, getting owned by a Hordie, who basically made it his business to kill me over and over again. (I was never a very good player. Pet Battling is the thing I love most about WoW.) But fortunately, after I rezzed, there was a nearby critter with the green paw print over it. So, I just engaged with it, and suddenly, I was in my safe haven.
He eventually saw that I wasn’t going to move, so he gave up.
My favorite time was in the sewers of Dalaran. There was a team of Hordies that effectively annihilated everyone. While they were busy with everyone else, I sneaked and engaged with the mutant warturtles.
The Hordies eventually noticed me and were apparently very frustrated by the fact that they couldn’t hurt me. One of the Hordies, I guess a Troll Shaman, did a running jump in front of me and cast Thunderstorm in midair. At least I assume that’s what he did, based on the graphics. (Obviously, I know what T-storm looks like.)
I had to laugh. I give him credit for trying, but did he seriously believe that would somehow knock me out of my pet battle sanctuary?
One of the Hordies started dancing with me, so I danced back. Then I finally asked in general if someone could activate the guards so PvP would be turned off. When someone did, I turned off running and just calmly walked out of the sewers.
I think a couple of them were absolutely livid. One of them challenged me to a duel, but I refused, so he made himself /cry.
