what its your favorite as i can see, Kyrian goes with pvp, vampires for single target, necrolords for focus generation, and fae for AOE, as bm i thing im going fae or vampires, toughts?
i can’t get hyped for any spell. it’s all going to be locked behind a stupid system so i’ll be less successful at other things than if i took another spell. right now, this is a worse version of talents.
Once again, I am the greatest hero/champion of all azeroth, but only because I borrow a lot of power from something else.
Was kind of a neat twist with legion artifacts, but getting kind of old now.
I’m just going with the Fae for the nature theme, not going to focus on abilities or fall into Covenant hopping to have whatever is the best in the patch of the day…
I think I will be going Kyrian for PvP. As a MM the ability should be great in PvE too. It will be hard passing up on the Vampires though for that teleport and the class ability seems nice too.
And it’s going to be basically useless in pvp against all but the oblivious. No one is going to stand in the giant circle so you can dps them. As soon as they see it they’ll be getting out of it.
That said, I’ll prolly be going night fae.
…so you are saying they are going to have to move away from flag locations, or flag carriers, or risk taking damage? Area denial is a thing…and it can be at it’s best when it’s obvious…that said, that doesn’t necessarily qualify an ability as “best for pvp”
Having played with them all:
Kyrian will be good in arena. The crit buff will be nice in M+, but MM already has a ton of crit, so . Also the steward is terrible. It’s Jeeves who gives you a free health/cleanse potion. It isn’t even on a separate cooldown, so if you use it in combat, you can’t use a DPS potion.
Necrolord is probably the best jack-of-all-trades. It ricochets to do AoE, but will hit a single target 7 times if there is nothing else around. The shield is a nice tool Hunter’s don’t currently have an analog for, and is great for sustain when soloing or soaking mechanics in raids/M+.
Venthyr is essentially a worse Black Arrow, it’s really fun to play with but it has some frustrating aspects, like being functionally useless on anything non-elite because it doesn’t reset the CD on target death, and there is no bad luck protection. Also the procced Kill Shots don’t reset the cooldown, so it has almost no value below 20%. Door of Shadows is fun and might wind up functionally required for M+ skips or raid mechanics (in raids, its a better Warlock Gate on a shorter CD that doesn’t rely on the Warlock to know where to put it, in M+, if the whole group takes it it’s a better Shroud of Concealment on a 1/6 cooldown), but it honestly doesn’t give me much more mobility than Disengage with Posthaste if I’m being honest. I still think it has no chance of going live as-is, unless other Covenants get a big buff.
Night Fae is crazy for big AoE pulls, especially if you combine it with Barrage or Volley+Aimed Shot+Rapid Fire. Soulshape (the shapeshift) is a mediocre run speed increase that doesn’t stack with Trailblazer, and the blinks are very short (10yd) and subject to the same issues Mage Blink has (getting stuck on random pebbles on the ground, occasionally Blinking straight down for no discernible reason, etc).
I’d like to go Night Fae for the aesthetics and theme. I honestly have no idea which one I’ll pick yet based on playing alpha. If anything I’m more confused now that I have hands on experience (given only 1/3 of the system is implemented for testing right now).
In arena, you drop your LoS circle on the other side of the pillar. They can either stand in the circle and get shot, or run away from the pillar and get shot.
You do realize range is a thing right? And you do realize moving out of aoe is also already a thing right?
From what I’ve seen the circle it creates is not so large as to force anyone far enough away from a flag to keep even melee classes from preventing flag caps. Especially when you realize every melee class has an instant ranged attack.
i haven’t seen too many melee kill flag carriers at range…no, and while you may still be able to prevent a flag cap…you might have an issue capping it…because you are right, you’d need to move out of the AoE.
No, but you do realize, that the flag carrier isn’t bound to a posted flag. They will move out of the circle to minimize the damage they take.
In a 1v1 situation the person is going to move out of the circle and then start wailing on the hunter. In a multi person fight, the enemy team is going to move out of the circle and then continue to fight.
so the Venthir one doesnt work outside the 20% execute margin? i thought it let you use it no matter the hp when it procs
…so in this case you could make them move off of a cap point, but i was referring more to forcing melee off of YOUR flag carrier.
correct…so you probably wouldn’t use it 1v1 in this scenario.
In thinking venthyr would be better for most pvp (wpvp and bgs), but i could see kyrian getting more mileage in arenas. The resonating arrow crit buff is useless in pvp, being able to deny the other team’s healer the ability to drink would be it’s main value. Steward would be useful for the extra heal in arenas since you can’t use healing pots.
It’s hard to ignore the extra single target damage and mobility from venthyr. Hopefully their mogs look cool and they have an edgey backstory.
Flayed Shot has a chance per tick to make Kill Shot usable at any health.
Since Kill Shot is always usable under 20%, the proc has no value under 20%.
