Now that it's "legacy" - can we get some changes to Shadowlands covenant cosmetics?

Now that Shadowlands is officially declared “legacy” can we revisit the cosmetic costs? The grateful offerings + anima costs are a bit insane in total for collecting things, especially now that the armor/weapon type restrictions have been removed. Even with the anima transfer 1:1 between alts and grateful offerings being warbound, the cost is still astronomical. Like multiple thousands of grateful offerings required for everything and hundreds of thousands of anima.

I am asking this as someone that collected 100% with Night Fae on my Hunter DURING Shadowlands, please for all that is holy revisit these costs and reduce them substantially.

I went to this place again. And my goodness it’s still depressing and abysmal and I want the transmogs and weapons but the thought of grinding there again makes me not want to play retail.

I hope they reduce the prices or a better solution because no way in hell I will put myself through the awful grind that SL has for achievements for the cosmetics.

It might be legacy but it’s still just cosmetic stuff.

I swear, if it’s not complaining about drop rates for RNG cosmetics being too low, it’s complaining about costs for vendor cosmetics being too high. Probably both for some people. It’s all cosmetic stuff. If you want it just to complete a checklist and not to actually use it, then the cost is part of that process.

Meh it’s too late in the game for that, that would just undermine the people that already ground out the millions of anima to get everything.

It’s not going anywhere, just work at it.

Gonna make me look.

Ok, so its over 1.4 million anima, + whatever I’ve spent so far, + 16x the cost of your covenant sanctum (once for each armor type in each covenant)

So if you did every raid on every difficulty every week, farmed out 3k anima daily from zereth mortis, did your maw dailies, did your korthia weeklies you could pull down about 36,000 per week scalar per character. I advise against this as it will get you to uninstall the game within 3 weeks.

This is a post made by someone who I assume has never done balance of power 4 years late for LEGION cosmetics lol. blizzard is the champion at gatekeeping old content behind insanely long quest chains and currency farms.

Unleashed monstrosities cosmetic for blue ash bringer I had to wait MONTHS for because it requires 8 different legion world boss kills and they rotate 1 per week.

why does it matter? are you gonna be unable to move on with your life if people have easier access to 4 yr old content?

I think most of us would love to see blizzard make some of these things more achievable for newer players, but at the same time they HAVE BEEN. Heck even balance of power they made account wide and for ALL classes so you don’t have to go through the whole hair pulling process a second time. I say give it time and they will end up making more QOL changes for obtaining old stuff

“I suffered and so now others must suffer too” is an insane mindset that holds back progress so much.

It’s not suffering you walnut it’s a video game.

If you want the cosmetics, go do the content for them like other people did.

If it’s not worth it to you, then don’t do it.

Your suffering is someone else’s hard work

Geez man people don’t want to earn anything anymore.

They need to make the grateful offerings tradable.

They did, it’s a warband transferrable currency now.

So I’m of the opinion that the covenant sanctum upgrades should have been account level upgrades. The reason why is that anima drops stack size is correlated to how upgraded your sanctum is, and that means to maximize your gains your first ~90k per character is just going into the hole that is your covenant sanctum. This takes the real cost of everything from ~1.5 million to ~3 million anima.

Also, there was a covenant that was basically required for PVP as it gave you an extra 40% HP, so a lot of PVPers simply didn’t get to use other covenants during shadowlands.

Also your covenant sanctum conduits are overwriting talents in some cases and it seems to be extending past the shadowlands. So instead of just being borrowed power its more like a cursed doll that won’t leave your house. (you should strip your soulbinds of conduits to work around this bug)

But yea, we have the real and final tally for how much anima you can get realistically and for the vast majority of players they won’t even be able to scratch the surface of crazy stuff going on in the shadowlands, like if you’re making 12k anima a week from just dropping in and doing your weeklies its gonna take you about 270 weeks to be able to afford most of this stuff. They nerfed the gold out of it anyway, so its just a grind for the sake of grinding

Also, that is before you consider you’d need to do a torghast grind for each armor type on every covenant to unlock all your peeps, and also they never punched up the mission table campaigns so you’re still stuck with ones where you can’t complete the campaign until you’ve basically leveled everything to level 60.

Didn’t know that. The notes said they only applied Warband stuff to Dragonflight and would do other expansions in the future.

Yeah, they managed to go back and do a lot of stuff. Check your currency tab, even things like the Champion’s Seals from WotLK are transferable now. I found a bunch on alts I haven’t looked at in 15 years lol

Yeah, Shadowlands legacy content really needs some work. I don’t think the xpac is bad as some people say but man it is so “engrained in itself”. There is not a single part of the game aside from maybe classic that only really works if you have months to dedicate on grinding it lol

Are people going to be unable to move on with their lives if it goes unchanged? That’s what it sounds like.

And for the record, I’m currently playing through Shadowlands for the first time myself. Since this is all ostensibly ‘for fun’ and has no impact on my character progression, I really couldn’t care less what the cosmetics cost. I’ll just get what I can when I feel like doing stuff over here. It won’t bother me if it does get changed, but apparently it does and will continue to bother people if it doesn’t.

Just wait for SL Remix, then the gear will be had in two weeks of spamming…something spammable.

Because it is a pointless change that benefits no one, as the next thing would just be on the chopping block. If you want the stuff, then get to it. Folks farm old raids for cosmetics for the same reason.
Sure, the game could just give you everything right there and then and… voilá! You got everything! … now what? You aren’t going to play a game that you have completed everything in it.

Here’s a better question: are you going to be able to move on with your life, knowing that the game isn’t designed to be done and over with in a fortnight? And if you genuinely think this, what other MMO in the history of MMOs have ever had a “point of completion” exactly…?

Food for thought.

  1. This is a game.
  2. This is about cosmetics.
  3. If you think it is “suffering” to get stuff, then you clearly think it ain’t worth it. At which point, you are either advocating for stuff to be given to you for free if you complain enough (ergo you saying ‘I want the stuff but not put any effort towards it’ in this thread) or you move on and get stuff you think is actually worth it.

It ain’t more difficult or deeper than that mate.
