Now that FFXIV has left PvP to die will we see players come to WOW for MMO PVP?

Hello everyone per the interview

Q. There’s been a lot of talk about how you’ve been influenced by WoW and other MMOs. Will that inspiration have any effect on the PvP that will be implemented in the future?

A: I think it’s really difficult when it comes to PvP, and I’m well aware that even if you’re only inspired by the rules and systems and try to implement them, you’ll never get the same results if the battle mechanics are different.

The FF series is a franchise that grew up on consoles, -Snip-

so PvP becomes less and less of a priority.

I dont think this article will have much significance on either community

Its not like Blizzard is prioritizing their PVP either - orc has been mandatory for how long?

That’s assuming it was ever a priority to begin with.

No one left wow for ff for the pvp, there’s better games for that (better than both of the actually)

FF14’s appeal was towards the role playing & PvE crowd, no one went there for PvP.

I have a feeling the boost in GW2 players might have been for that.

Which is kind of interesting since the recent live-letter from Yoshi showed that they’re making several changes to PvP with Endwalker to improve the experience. A 5v5 environment, removal of role requirements, and gameplay and mechanical changes to the PvP templates used.

That’s actually where I went to after they ignored the 9.1.5 PvP megathread on PTR lol, I haven’t touched PvP yet though, been genuinely having such a good time in their open world that i’ve been too distracted to hop in their PvP lobby.

That, and i’ve fallen from grace and began to play League again :skull_and_crossbones::skull_and_crossbones::skull_and_crossbones:

Does Final Fantasy have its own forum?

Was gonna point this out. They haven’t been big on PvP in the past, but are improving it considerably in Endwalker. Changing the gearing and rewards system too.

I’ve never PvPed in FF14 before period, and I’ve been playing since HW, but I’m actually considering giving it a shot now, not the opposite.

Nobody’s playing FFXIV for pvp.

Not to say it doesn’t have a weirdly interesting approach. Moba style gameplay in MMO format. Gear has no bearing, rewards are only cosmetic, and entirely separate pvp spellbook

Thanks. bats eyelashes

That’s pretty silly honestly, but whatever floats their boat.

Even some of the biggest players welcoming people from WoW were straight up telling people they will be disappointed if they’re coming for PvP content.

Blizzard did the same thing!

wow’s pvp is garbage so no, no one is going to come to wow to pvp. well, they might come to try it out but will quickly realize its garbage.

all blizzard has to do is provide templates with customizable stats and balance the specs frequently. provide solid transmogs, mounts, pets to purchase with honor every season. they do that, then yes, 100 percent, all mmorpg players will come to wow for pvp.

FFXIV PVP has never been popular outside of using it to power level other jobs at some point. The combat is too slow for it and the awful latency kills it even more unless you use a VPN because the standard routing to their servers is awful.
