Go copy GW2’s homework on that too, pls. I want my raptor to move with momentum. I want my good boy tiger to be able to sprint long distances quickly…I want my rabbit to make great leaps…
I’m sure those with the love rocket would love (no pun) to see it ignite its booster and launch them into a specific direction at great speed.
I hear ya, dragon flying has made ground mounts boringgggggg.
But if they apply the same uniqueness to ground mounts, they’ll be made special in their own way. GW2 got a lot wrong, but mounts is def not one of them.
They made an entire new system of items to make sure the water strider mount wasn’t the most used mount because of its inherent usefulness. The dragons now don’t have different abilities from each others. Unless all the mounts can do the same thing I doubt they’re going to go the way of guildwars.
What I want from ground mounts, aside from specific abilities like in the OP, is a little bit of fun. Lets say that, for some reason, you are on a ground only mount, and are running in a specific direction and come to a cliff edge. The ground mount knows that there’s nothing there, so it comically stops while the momentum from the sudden stop sends you over its head and dangle on the Reins. At this point you have a fatigue bar, and you are supposed to encourage the mount to pull you up by walking away from the ledge before the fatigue bar expires. If the bar expires, you comically fall to your death with your mount looking down at you as you fall. If you successfully encourage the mount to pull you up, you are supposed to reward the mount for its good deed with a treat. If you don’t provide said treat, it bucks you off the ledge to your doom.
And then you have to respawn where your body hit the ground and find a way to get back to your mount to remount it.
