Now that 2h ENH officially sucks

Can you clueless devs finally add a second melee attack on the glove rune or make LL usable with a 2h. It’s almost comical at this point that I read a dev remark that and I quote:

“I believe this has been a “no” and the reason you’re asking for it is the exact reason there hasn’t been one. The fear I hear is that giving 2handers another instant attack is more potential windfury burst, and that’s hard to sell to everyone that isn’t a shaman.”

First let me dispel this. There ISNT ANY MORE POTENTIAL WINDFURY BURST than the ICD allows for. WHICH you can easily hit with our INSANELY hasted autos already. The ICD cannot be broken by special attacks… so what even is this non argument? I would ask do these devs even play shaman, but we know they dont.

Now lets get into the “that’s hard to sell to everyone that isn’t a shaman.”

Where was that same consideration when you introduced:

  • trap in combat
  • lock and load buff
  • 40 energy mutilate , followed by reversion into the backstab changes that ended with the net same ending of people dying in a cheapshot
  • grossly overtuning boomkin dots for better pve damage with 0 thought on how it would affect pvp
  • boomkins pressing frenzied regen while having 7k armor turning into literal panzer tanks keyboard turning and mulching people down
  • the introduction of the burn rune paired with power surge (the most brainless no pvp thought intro of em all tbh)
  • multiple paladin attacks not in any way hindered by bubble, baseline martyrdom allowing for twisting without rune sacrifice.
  • giving hunters 20% dodge on catlike reflexes, why , who even though this was okay? Not that anyone runs it now but that could soon change

Introducing an additional attack, that can proc an imbue Isn’t even the bogeyman these devs think it is. An extra ATTACK? SERIOUSLY? We have entire bgs with raid wide windfury on classes with multiple attacks( with ACTUAL % modifier scaling on them unlike memestrike which is unironically just 1 attack with no bonuses) and you are worried about a class getting 1 extra melee attack?? This is a lazy take.

But hey lets not even forget on AB weekend there was 1 AB game. Are you really going to balance a spec around the last 15 copers in bgs? Do you really think when everyone has 10-12k hp next phase in R13 gear having an additional melee attack that makes the class just MORE FLUID to play is going to be the omfgwtfoneshot montage you think it will be? The answer… is NO.

It’s almost wild to me how bad 2h enhance actually is, and it is balanced around the perspective of, but it could be too good. But this weird perspective isn’t really done for any other class/spec except honestly, maybe warrior.

Lets get into PVE.

Firslty LVB is a poorly scaled SPELL for enh. You don’t have the talents to make it really that great of a spell to cast and its value is heavily diminished for every point of crit and spellpower you recieve. Also it is QUITE EVIDENT that the devs don’t even value it since the T2 enh set is in direct conflict of Lava burst.

(2) Set : [Your chance to trigger Static Shock is increased by 12% (6% while dual - wielding).

(4) Set : [Critical strikes with Stormstrike grant 100% increased critical strike chance with your next Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, or Shock spell.]

(6) Set : [Your Lightning Shield now gains a charge each time you hit a target with Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning, up to a maximum of 9 charges. In addition, your Lightning Shield can now deal critical damage.]

Literally EVERY SINGLE BONUS does not benefit lava burst AT ALL.
But an extra attack would help:

  • proc more static shocks for the 2 piece

  • spending on lightning bolt directly benefits from the 100% crit chance on LB from SS dont want to be lava bursting on those since its LOL already 100% crit and lower spell coeff

  • lightning shield refreshes on every lightning bolt or chain lightning bolt

  • extra attack also can generate more msw to synergize with this set even better.

I just wonder… when the devs made paladins have over 6k dps in p5

did they ever consider if : “that’s hard to sell to everyone that isn’t a [paladin].”

TO be clear, I dont even care to be a top dps, the top dps or top 5 dps. I just hate that a spec I wanted to play sucks complete farts to play because im autoing in between one attack every 6 seconds and looking at a swing timer to hit lava burst rather than having a meaningful second melee attack and I look over and paladins hitting multiple attacks between swings and twisting while having access to a much better array of buffs that arent sticks in the ground that dont move. And when asked why thats the case instead of just saying “because we are clueless devs that are lazy and dont care about the experience of 2h shamans” I get to read the* laughable “well we have to consider pvp balance” after 5 straight phases of clown show balance where mechanics to make classes play better were introduced first and tuned later.

b4 u post and cry but shamans were good, just know, if you ever struggled against 2 hand enhance you legitimately should seek a medical checkup because you may be suffering from something to lose to such a comically bad class. You should also know. PVP is dead. No one cares about pvp. Nobody does pvp. There is only drek and van rush. If you don’t rush you get reported. So lets stop balancing around the last 10 people in wsg and AV and actually use SOD as a place to TEST new things.

Why bother worrying about the pvp balance now of all things when you killed your own player base in p3, is beyond me.

and yes I did think WoE , Burn, MSW + MD healing bonus, and many of the old broken shaman mechanics, were infact over powered and nerfed. Please post your cry retorts in your diaries.

EDIT: I just want to be clear , I am not even asking for paladins to be nerfed, I think its awesome they are having their time. I just want my spec to feel like an actual melee spec. With some real attention to it.

Seconded for adding a Rune second attack that requires a 2h weapon equipped in the same spot as Lava Lash(so DW cant take it too). Make it Frost themed. Hell, make it cleave so we can get some good AoE.

I play warrior and, yep. Big agree. So afraid of giving people fun stuff because “it might break X” but apparently can’t put 2 seconds of thought into the things that very obviously immediately break things. Bizarre behavior imo considering this is supposed to be an experiment. Let me break things you freaks.

Don’t worry, the devs figured out how to bridge the gap between dual wield and 2h enhance by making both horrible in the next phase. lol joking aside it’s extremely obvious that they’re putting all the work they can into buffing Pally and boomkin (Aggrend’s main and alt class) and balancing them around pve making them insane in pve and totally oppressive and busted in pvp while classes like spriest and shaman get thrown in the dirt for being strong in gnomer and sunken temple phase.

Next phase definitely leaves a lot to be desired for enhance; I’m fine being a lower-dps spec if there is at least some things to look forward to. Our class quest rewards a shield, which has to be equipped in order to receive the totem boons and make our totems better than Horn. It’s pretty disappointing that Paladins can now drop 2 totems for 1 global and the buff Horn provides avoids the normal downsides of a totem - it cannot fall off because of range or the totem being killed.

Overall I dont really feel the excitement a new phase should bring for new items, abilities and quests. Instead it feels like we’re still taking nerfs for our sins in P2 and the fear of giving us anything cool is real. Why cant our quest reward a 2h Totem? Why did the 2h totem go away with the STV event; it felt like a very unique and cool item for shamans to wield. Why do hunters get two insanely nice (paired speed btw) 1hers to use? How is giving a class custom weapons that work perfectly for their spec anyway comparable to an offhand?

I’ve been trying to get an answer and offered ideas for 12 months now. Never get a straight answer. My old post:

The Shaman community is begging for a secondary melee attack for two-handed enhancement. Provided are several ideas to augment two-handed to feel like a complete spec.

I’ve been attempting to address this issue for most of SOD.

All of these would be a glove rune and most would require a two-handed weapon unless noted

  1. Thunderous Strike : An Elemental attack that deals 100% weapon damage as nature and increases your spell critical strike chance by 5%. (essentially a strong attack that can proc Elemental Devastation and works well with Stormstrike ). 8 second cooldown, 5% base mana.
  2. Greater Stormstrike: Stormstrike now deals 150% weapon damage and it’s cooldown is reduced by 3 seconds.
  3. Molten Blast: The Shaman fires a cone of lava at it’s enemies, dealing 65% (115% with a two-handed weapon equipped) weapon damage as fire to the selected target, up to 10 other targets receive 10% of weapon damage as fire. 5% base mana, 8 second cooldown.
  4. Lava Lash: You charge your off-hand weapon with lava, instantly dealing 100% off-hand Weapon damage. Damage is increased by 125% if your off-hand weapon is enchanted with Flametongue. While wielding a two-handed weapon Lava Lash Strikes the target with your main hand dealing 100% weapon damage as fire. 6 second cooldown, 1% base mana.
  5. Frozen Strike: Imbue your main hand with ice instantly dealing 75% weapon damage as Frost, if the enemy is afflicted with Frost Shock Frozen Strike shatters the enemies defenses dealing a critical strike and increasing frost damage taken by 20% for 10 seconds. 8 second cooldown, 3% base mana. (One of my favorites, I think it would add a lot to a Two-Handed Shaman’s rotation, utilize the element of Frost, make us decide between Shocks and be fairly strong in pvp.)
  6. Stormblast: Strike the target for 70% weapon damage plus and additional 25% nature damage. Each Stormblast increases nature damage taken by 5% increasing up to 15%. Last 15 seconds. 6 second cooldown, 3% base mana.
  7. Crash Lightning: A thunderous attack, the Shaman imbues his weapon with lightning dealing 150% weapon damage to your main target and 75% weapon damage to 2 other targets within 10 yards. 10 Second cooldown, 5% base mana.

Odd Ball Ideas:
8. Shocking Weapon: The Shaman focus’s the power of earth into it’s weapon, your next Earth Shock is absorbed and then released on your next auto attack dealing 25% more damage and stunning the target for 2 seconds. 15 Second cooldown, 5% base mana. (Would still function as an interrupt.) Earth Shock wouldn’t go on cooldown until you released it.
9. Wind Ripper: A instant strike that that deals 65% weapon damage as nature and envelopes the target in wind, slowing attack and cast speed by 25% for 5 seconds and reduces the targets nature resistance by 30 (attack/cast speed debuff wouldn’t work on boss targets). 10 second cooldown, 5% base mana.
10. Elemental Annihilation: The Shaman conjures the power of wind, earth and fire into its weapon unleashing a devastating ranged attack dealing 250% weapon damage in a straight line until it reaches a target. 1.5 second cast, 15 yard range. 15 Second cooldown, 10% base mana. (Interruptible). (Basically Sundering but with a cast time and only hitting a single target, sort of a slow, super powerful ground missile).

This is NOT happening lol do u even pvp against people that DONT keyboard turn? lol

IF wolves are up the shammy has a shot if not the druid needs a room temp iq to lose.

Enh would be broken with a 2nd attack meanwhile hunters are totally fine spamming traps at you like they are making it rain at the club while hitting you with pom/pyro shot every 6sec.
