I mean at this point, just like if you give a pet what they want after begging it enforces that behavior. Blizzard gave the alliance what they wanted showing if you beg hard enough for it you will get it. This was shown with classic servers (even though it was more with fighting private servers) and now blood elf customization on void elves. The high elf community now knows they just gotta spam and cry hard enough and they get everything they want and the behavior will continue to enforce future behaviors.

Gameplay > Lore
Same reason forsaken could be holy specced despite the light hurting them. gameplay wise you were a holy priest, in lore, you were healing though void magic as a member of the cult of the forgotten shadow.

Lore wise all void elf priest are shadow priest… just like all maghar orcs and all kultiran shamans are tidesages
That’s not true you actually got it backwards. All of holy priests spells are holy based, a good portion of paladins kit is based in martial prowess.

Where is this said? I see void elves using holy magic all over the place.
dont bite the hand that feeds you. this is a good change this is enough. high elfs are mostly warriors, hunters, and mages. this is the best we will get and its honestly more then anyone really expected. the good news is amazing we should just be celebrating tbh

Gameplay > Lore
Being a paladin is a higher set of convictions and a closer stand to the light.
When a priest looses faith and access to the light it hurts, it is absolutely devastating for a paladin.
And as pointed out, Void elf priests are not using holy magic, that is a gameplay feature, in lore, they are still using void magic. Just like things like raid scaling and the like, otherwise a Oger mage in draenor is more powerful then Deathwing, or the Litch King.

Yeah players not of the NPCs… same for Lightforged Draenei priest lorewise can’t use the void, Turalyon whos lightforged can’t even touch Aleria.

Turalyon is a lightforged, not a normal paladin. and Aleria ate the heart of a Naaru, not your run of the mill void elf.
Not ignoring lore making new lore. Lore that doesn’t conflict with the old stuff.
Where has it ever been said that the light and the shadow can’t be used? In fact disc priest seem to fly in the face of your assertions they wield both shadow and light.

Except it literally is that’s why the npc’s constantly talk about getting whispers from the void.
Turalyon looks like a normal human.
Alleria gets whispers and she looks like a normal high elf.

Turalyon has glowing lines all over him. Aleria has Void etched into her skin.
whispers =/= being voidforged. My paladin gets whispers right now and hes just fine using his powers.

All Void Elf NPC’s use void magic.
The Void Elves all have the whispers of the void that they have to shut out, showing how strong a connection they have.
Just like with forsaken who have been able to be priests forever, it was stated they did not heal though use of the light, but though shadow magic as members of the cult of the forgotten shadow.
Disc priests are not what i think you think they are. You are really stuck on gameplay = lore idea. A Disc Priest walks a razors edge by using both sources, they also don’t use them at the same time since its a good way to go boom.
Corruption on gear/N’znoth actively reaching out to whisper into your mind is not the same as being infused with the void

Only in her void form.
The void elf intro literally talks about them being transformed and them becoming death knights cancels out any whispers of the void.
Void elves NPC still show zero examples of them using the light.
