Now I See Why People Play Classic

you’re lost in the sauce. Classic isnt about raiding. What you’re doing is the equivalent of me say Retail leveling is a joke and so much easier than Classic. WoW retail players suck and couldnt level to 60 in WoW classic.

WoW Classic = MMORPG world.
WoW Retail = Arcade game with stages you insta port to.

It was a nice nostalgia trip to go back to classic for a couple months. Played my rogue, which was the character I wanted to play but never really got to because of social pressure (wound up stuck healing on a pally in 2005). But then the little things started getting annoying, like bag space, the difficulty of traversing the world, yoinking aggro by just backstabbing a boss too early, etc.

It’s definitely a slower pace and, while I had time for that back in the 2000s, I really just don’t any longer. I want to jump into the action, not spend 30 minutes getting the group to Dire Maul and another hour clearing the place. So I came back to retail and have been enjoying it with appreciation for how much has changed in the 19 years I’ve been playing.

Remind me when WoD classic comes out.

That’s when modern raid design really became cemented.

We’ll see how easily people clear those raids…

Retail leveling is a joke.

Classic leveling is also a joke.

The only difference is classic leveling is more time consuming.

Classic is for people that aren’t good and can’t adapt.

Classic leveling is also a joke.

Well it is designed to be beaten. But it’ll kill your average player plenty. And it’s difficult enough to reward playing your character properly.

Retail WoW leveling is too easy. Not difficult enough. And that’s a binary thing.

Classic leveling is properly balanced. Retail leveling isn’t.

Average players are bad. Doesn’t make it difficult. It’s just time consuming.

The hard thing to classic leveling is staying awake.

Good thing the game doesn’t revolve around leveling.

a retail players idea on adapting is just swiping the credit card until you stop losing.

Doesn’t make it difficult.

This is just a useless opinion.

Elden Ring is kind of easy too outside of a couple boss fights. What’s important is that it doesn’t treat the player like a toddler.

Retail WoW treats it’s players like a toddler. Classic WoW and Elden Ring don’t do that.

Good thing the game doesn’t revolve around leveling.

I mean it used to, back when the game was at it’s peak of popularity.

I loved doing WC, and SM, especially on my enh shaman. It was fun to smash face up close with some magic added in, grab agro on one enemy, and toss out a few chain heals to keep the group up when a pat pulled the next group to your current pull.

Rofl. That’s not how that works at the top level. Swiping the credit card doesn’t actually clear content.

Clearly you’re talking about things you never have done.

Swiping the credit card doesn’t actually clear content.

Except when you literally swipe a credit card to buy gold to pay someone to carry you.

You absolutely can swipe your credit card to beat content in this game.

Actually it’s a fact not an opinion.

Wow content at low levels is easy because it’s been done over and over again.

If I level a new character I don’t want to spend ten hours seeing the same things I already experienced. I’d rather just get to max and start playing endgame.

Well that I agree with.

Any game that’s 20 years old and has been played dozens of times is going to be easier.

Classic had hundreds of hours of leveling content (granted it did get a little lazy at points but it was overall very high quality content).

This is exactly why I hate retail. Because all it is is the same dungeons over and over again. It lacks the variety and replayablity of a game like classic.

You do realize that they spent that gold on flasks/augmentrunes/food

They weren’t spending in on automatic clears for the content. They still had to actually beat the content.

Literally arguing semantics.

You’re paying real money to get an advantage in a video game. Which completely ruins all sense of competition.

Actually it’s people without a clue making an argument.

They aren’t gaining an advantage. Every guild that took place in rwf was paying for the exact same thing.

They weren’t getting any specific advantages.

“all the athletes were on steroids, so really what does it even matter?”

Not even a fair comparison.

Every guild is going to have their raiders using flasks/potions/runes.

The gold is there to purchase said items.

The price variance is due to different server economies.

Classic is an old game. We like to play new games. Time goes forward
