... The Azerite system has potential, but its current execution is flat retarded.
No it’s good, you don’t have a progressive mindset
Can you at least tell me why you think it's good? I personally don't think these traits are worth the secondary stats that I lose.
I entered this expansion with the mindset of focusing on only one character on either side. I loved the zones and atmosphere during the journey. Once I hit cap and really absorbed the grind ahead just for Pathfinder (same thing all over again - and I'm a PF proponent) and seeing all those WQ with trivial rep gains -

Too many people that haven’t even gotten to max level complaining. You can’t complain about a game you haven’t played yet.
I'm at max level, have done all of the non-mythic dungeons, done island expeditions, working on rep and my war campaign now.
I'm having a blast.
I'd like to remind people that it hasnt been a week yet. The only real portion of the game thats out is the WQs, dungeons, and island expeditions. The first raid or warfront isnt out just yet.
While Im not overly ecstatic about everything, I think its a wee bit too early to start waving the "This expack sucks" flag just yet.
I've actually started to look forward to the day, many years from now, when Blizzard stops developing content for WoW, and possibly even shuts down the servers.
Just because it will be amusing to read how people talk about the game once it is gone.
I can only imagine the outpouring of nostalgia. The most epic gaming experience ever! Nothing being made today can compare! You had to be there! A 20-year journey (or whatever it ends up being) full of so many memorable moments! Those were the days when games were games!
Maybe enjoy it while it's happening? In the moment? At least a little?
This expansion feels like an extension of Legion
So expansion feels like expansion?
Honestly, this expansion has a lot of potential. There are many story archs that need to be developed and I'm most interested in Sylvanas' story arch.
Additionally, it's the first week of the expansion so there aren't going to be any groundbreaking story developments.
Currently, it's just doing WQs, gearing, and PvP.
Island Expeditions are fun and they offer a good weekly bonus. The world itself seems challenging because this is the first expansion where it felt like the world had more power than me.
Here's an example, I used to be able to melt away 5-8 mobs at a time and now I can do only 3 or 4 with more effort and more cds. Gearing up helped a bit but you still feel beaten after your pulls.
The problem is that WoW has become formulaic.
Yep, all part of Activision's goal with the takeover. Puke out expansions in a closed loop. It has *really* shown in the past two expansions. Professions have been wholeheartedly gutted. Engineering took an absolute nosedive in legion.
Think about engineering in every expansion before Legion, engineers got some amazing utility. Haste buff on their gloves, rocket boots, goblin gliders. Legion comes along and they get a helmet gun that does 7 damage, and a portal that moves you to a random spot in Dalaran.
Fishing, Archaeology, and Cooking have been gutted in BfA. There are no substantial rewards from fishing, no cool stuff to fish up. You end up with the same trash in every zone, and I actually caught a salt water catfish from a freshwater pond today. It's not devastating, but it is the kind of thing you notice when attention to detail is missing.
Archaeology isn't worth leveling, two new digs and 1 pet/1 toy at each. You can get cooking 40 points from maximum with vendor items.
I can't imagine any of these changes are part of a grand plan, they're just part of the bi-yearly expansion churn where Activision tells Blizzard to puke something out without giving them enough time to make it, and then says $60 please.
I haven't even touched classes, or how each one is a 4 button rotation with 2-3 big cooldown buttons to push.
I feel like the game is just missing those special little things to find that make the adventure unique. Replaced with randomly placed chests and "rare" spawns that aren't rare at all.

The expansion feels kinda uninspired and the class rework systems seems to be based around strictly pruning and restricting.
I understand that the newer younger crowd complains about too many useless or unused skills on the hotbar so they only want to faceroll 5 skills on a GCD but adding raid buffs doesnt make the lowblow hurt any less. By 120 theres no new talents since WoD lv 100 (which personally find lazy)
I will add that usually when a game churns out an expansion they add new modes and playstyles or mechanics to the game, for example; EsO added thieving system with bounty breaking and entering or even assassination. Legion added class halls, artifact weapons, artifact empowering, artifact appearance hunting, World quests and quite a bit more, Gw2 added mounts, gliders with virtual level system for more non combat abilities etc.
Although,
I will say i am hoping that this linear story line is just some type of buildup to distract us from the threat beneath the surface. ill remain hopeful that somehow they add some game play changing mechanic because so far ill just get to the finish line and leave it there. (atleast until zandalari troll race is released?)[8.1? doubt it]
It would have been better if the Battle for Azeroth actually took place on the Azeroth we've come to know, aka Lordaeron and Kalimdor.
Yeah, I know these new zones are part of Azeroth, but we're not familiar with them, so the excitement isn't as great. Why should I fight for Trolls and Kul'Tiras? Yawn.

Yes, randomly placed chests that show up on the mini map and are out in the open for the most part. I mean literally chests that are just sitting out in the open next to a tree. Why even put a chest there? One thing I noticed in Kul Tiras is how many houses with two floors have nothing hidden in them. It just seems lazy.
Today I finished Drustvar on my bear. The house that Lucille is in at the end quest has a set of stairs so I went up thinking maybe something interesting might be in the rooms - like an Easter egg. Just an interesting touch - something I always enjoyed spotting in older expacs.
The stairs went nowhere. I’m not even sure why they were there. That really struck me as uninspired, and that along with doing my first dungeon on my bear and getting 15 measly Azerite off a boss kill gave me the sinking realization of “this feels lazy.”
The fact that it is literally "Legion with features removed" as a paid expansion kinda makes it, well, bad.
Yeah, no new features at all.
At all.
No sir.
Kul'Tiras has thus far been my favorite zone they've done in a long, loooong time, it feels like traditional warcraft fantasy that I used to love.
But you are correct, the core gameplay of WOW is very cut and dry, forced cookie cutter play styles via MOP style 'specializations' and ilvl based damage scaling really ruins any sense of character building that makes these kind of games fun and engaging.
I can spend hundreds if not thousands of hours min-maxing my ships on EVE online, in WOW? 10 ilvl upgrade? Right click and vendor the old.

If this is how you gear up your character, don't be surprised if you pull pathetic numbers.
Its not "bad", its cheap and nickle&diming you with timegating around every corner.
Content is there of course, but in smaller quantity than previous expansions.
Its cheap.

I view it as removing a lot of features I did not enjoy, but to each their own.

Sadly they nerfed secondary stats for BFA hard, and primary stats are based entirely on ilvl and make up the bulk of your DPS application.
I lost 20% haste but gained significantly higher damage numbers on a spec who's best secondary is haste.
So yes, that is how I upgrade my gear, Azerite gear is different, sure, but not by much.
Our neck pieces aren't for a faction war. That's our real reason to hose up all the azerite we can find, getting stronger.
And much of these zones aren't for a faction war, at least not only a faction war. This world is fantastical and jaw-dropping in its detail; as jaded as I am, I have a hard time believing Blizzard would waste the talent, effort, and resources that went into creating this on a faction conflict
