Not worried about "Layering" at all after watching this Interview

as the title suggests watch Ion just lay down the law of their intentions about how they are going about Layering. I know some of you are jaded against blizzard but lets be honest. They have done a good job keeping their word compared to some developers. Looking at you Lionhead Studios >.> (still salty over B&W)

Enjoy.

I think these vids come from the unannounced media day they had a couple weeks ago. I’m a bit impressed at both their ability to directly recognize the source of incoming questions and their enthusiasm in providing answers from an understanding of what the Classic community wants. This feels like the antithesis of the Diablo mobile fiasco, this is a team that gets it, and wants to do it right. I’m encouraged.

Friendly reminder: don’t trust a video game developer until they deliver the final product and it is as promised.

The real mystery is why they’re too afraid to simply bluepost it and they want us to go follow influencers to get official information.

Ok, so in that video he clearly says that sharding doesn’t belong in Classic and they’re looking at ways to only use it at launch.

Look and behold, we got layering, which will last up to a month, and will not have people phasing in and out at random.

What’s your point?

Because they’re smart enough to use the people we already interact with to ask critical questions in a friendly environment, and provide extended explanations that come across better in a 1-to-1 conversation format than in an official blue thread where every half-stoned player injects their madness into the discussion.

pretty fking annoying. I don’t like any of these influencers. The only wow streamer I would bother watching is sodapoopin.

Super presumptuous.

I tried checking out these streamers and they’re all awful other than MadSeason, so I guess I’ll get my news third hand on the official forums.

I’m not happy about it but I realise the realities of the situation.

It could have been so much worse.

Can’t help but notice how much more relaxed and at ease Ion is, compared to his BFA interviews and Q&A’s (probably also helps Lore isn’t there to sabotage everything he says  ) Great interview!

We don’t have to enjoy streamers but they do the job of consolidating our concerns.

yea I think he is having a lot more fun on the Classic development than the BFA development haha.

He does a horrible job explaining it.

Friend of mine was left with the impression there would be only one classic server after listening to him. The other guys did a much better job explaining it.

“the people we already interact with”

Who is “we”?

I’m interested in seeing it in action. Is it going to be all doom and gloom as some claim or will it be something I barely notice.

The people who watch streamers, who now occasionally includes me. There’s a good reason why they were invited to Irvine for a Q&A

Yeah I think the guy who fervently opposed Classic as a concept and the legacy versions of WoW in general until Blizzard threw him a bone is exactly the kind of person we need representing us at Blizzard HQ.

So switching continents does not put you on a new layer. Cool.

Just think of him as an amalgamation of all the garbage posters on the forums. Listen to it, assuage its fears, move on
