Not Telling the Whole Truth with Covenants (SL Beta Quest Spoilers)

I’m sorry, but that’s not true at all. Throughout this thread myself and others have countered why that’s comparing apples to oranges.

Good. This is how it should be. Covenant choice matters. They shouldn’t affect gameplay in any way, but aesthetic and story should be covenant specific. If you want to see the complete stories, go through the expac with 4 characters.

Thank you for disregarding all of the posts afterwards. Your feedback is unique, and not at all a repeat, and I will totally do exactly that. Sorry, everyone, but this guy totally convinced me.

I am a alliance why cant I go play the Horde side of each story? You pick a faction and locked in. I like the idea of picking a side and having it mean something. I remember when server where locked to one faction. The only way to play the other faction is to start fresh on another server.

I didn’t expect it to be unique, but covenants its are their own thing. I didn’t get to see all 11 other order hall questlines on one character, why would I see all storylines of all covenants and only be in one?

I’ve only said over and over that it’s not the same thing, but ok.

At this point, I’m gonna stop responding to people that just repeat the same stuff over and over. I don’t know how else I can get across that it’s not the same as any expansion before hand.

You can agree or disagree, but I stand by my viewpoints and I will continue to fight this until I get feedback from Blizzard themselves.

Thanks.

As order halls? Yea, it is basically the same. They each had their own unique storyline, just like covenants. The only difference is covenants aren’t class locked.

It. Is. Not. The. Same. Thing.

I have played Beta.

It is not the same thing.

So you how far into the Paladin order hall quests did you manage to get on that DK?

You’re so much better at explaining. I’m so glad you’re on my side. lol

Horde players go through the BFA campaign and then have to make a choice to side with or against Sylvanas. This is a major choice. You dont get the same gameplay, you dont get the same ending.

The Battle of Dazar’alor/Siege of Zuldazar, a raid that’s different based on your faction. How is this different? I’m still aware of Jaina, I still confront her to free Talanji earlier in the campaign, but I dont get the same deep story I do with the Alliance.

If I’m literally binding my soul to one specific covenant, how does it not make sense that Im unable to help the others to the same capacity? The other Maw Walker players get their unique story. Just because you dont like it doesn’t mean it doesn’t make sense.

Agree to disagree. :expressionless:

Fair enough

Let me refer you back to

This is 1 questline.

We’re talking about entire story zones in Shadowlands.

As mentioned before, in Legion you could complete entire zones start to finish Val’Shara, Aszuna, Highmountain and Stormheim. Now imagine not being able to find out what happens to Ysera and Malfurion because you become a Vallajar Warrior.

This is the level of nonsense Blizzard is pushing these (not actually) “meaningful choices” or more appropriately memeingful choices.

Would it actually take this long? I figured that the main Covenant storylines would work like the War Campaign. A new section of the story releases, and as long as you did the past sections you can start it right away. On my alt, I spent more time leveling than I did doing the War Campaign.

Oh so you didn’t experience any part of the other Order Hall questlines? Well guess what Shadowlands is different! If we’re comparing apples to apples then it would be equivalent to getting to experience all the Class Hall Quests up to halfway through their stories on one character without getting to complete them because they just realised you’re not that Class!

You experience 1/2 of every Covenant story. The covenants actually send you from one to the next to help out the Shadowlands as a whole as you are the only person(The Maw Walker) able to traverse the Maw and help them. Once you’ve partially helped each Covenant and end up at level 60 you’re given the choice to pick the skill you like best and bind your soul to a denizen of the Shadowlands(your soulbind), unlocking the extra talent tree.

Once you make this choice you can’t complete the other questlines. So 3/4 of the second halves of the OVERALL story is locked to you. As much as you want to believe there is some awesome plot points when you pick your skill/soulbind the covenant of your choosing acts like they have throughout the game so far and the others won’t talk to you at all.

What happens to Uther? No idea Bastion won’t let me in their quest hub. Why are we going into Castle Nathria? Again no clue cause I can’t go into the Revendreth quest hub. Like the Alliance with the Uldir raid we have to suspend our disbelief and metagame to understand why the hell our character is participating in the first raid because after Denathrius betrays the Shadowlands we have to choose.

The NPCs gladly take your help completing world quests and helping them with the Anima drought, but helping finish solving their respective problems? Sorry no can’t accept that cause you picked a Night Fae Soul to bind yourself to.

You bind yourself to the Denizen, not the Covenant itself. Semantics but it’s so stupid how they’ve tried to combine this broken narrative with their broken Ability/Talent tree system in a “mEaNiNgFuL wAy” that ends up taking away from the PC’s narrative.

I enjoy how you can’t reply to the numerous, logical, subsequent explanations of this choice in practice. Oh man ya got me.

I, respectfully, don’t see how this changes things. You could be correct it could totally be the wrong move, I personally don’t like it, I personally don’t think it will work, but that does NOT mean it is inconsistent or that it does not/will not make sense. In the previous example alone, you are the speaker of the Horde, you help and are a part of it, but you don’t follow the same track helping Saurfang that you do Sylvanas.

So all im getting from this is i need to have atleast one of each coven for the story good thing i plan to only play 5 in shadowlands looks like im saved then  .
