Agreed. As someone who often checks in and out of WoW every few months, I realize DF will keep me entertained consistently in year one. However, it’ll be a year of likely frequent breaks. I imagine I’ll hit the wall of “login and do your dailies / weeklies” fairly soon after launch. Grinding some dragon riding stuff throughout the week, pushing a bit of mythic plus, “maybe” a raid run or so. Otherwise, probably will logout and play something else in the meantime. I feel it’ll be a good change of pace from grindy SL, but nothing incredible.

I prefer that anyway. I devoted my entire play time to this expansion even though I knew I disliked it.
To be fair that wasn’t a lot of things I want to play… But knowing I can take a break and not fall behind is a good feeling

Yeah I can understand that. I’m actually looking forward to not having to login everyday like I was doing during Legion or SL, grinding my Order Halls / AP or Covenant / Torghast. It’ll be nice to just chill for the first time in a while. I do think DF will be getting a lot of flak a bit after launch though like every expansion, mainly because I feel people will put their expectations too high. DF I feel is meant to be a chill expansion, but anyone going into it expecting something game changing from the norm I believe will be disappointed. Me as a veteran though? I feel I’ll enjoy the pacing of it.

Indeed. People forget that what people now call “borrowed power” was introduced at the request of players because there was so little to do in the game.

To be fair, the WHOLE story is not uncovered yet. Campaign stops pretty quickly to hide spoilers.

The campaign is missing one quest that explains why we care about the raid and that’s it.

I’m feeling the same ambivalence. I’m not down on Dragonflight, just not super excited. I hope they’re just taking a “Under-hype, over deliver” attitude and I’ll wind up pleasently surprised, as happened with Mists.

Hold up, so it was the players that asked for it, and then it was also the players who complained for it to be removed? But we blame Blizzard for everything as usual.
I think people are confusing having a daily/weekly “to do list” (renown, azerite, essences, artifact power, soul ash, soul binds, conduits, etc) as “things to do” as opposed to just playing the game the way they want…. Hit max level and have all your talents and just go do the content you want…
The past few expansions has conditioned players, especially newer ones to rely on being told what content to do, having a daily and weekly list to “progress”. So they have no idea what to do when they hit max level and not be told what to do next.
So now… you can just play the game. Enjoy it

We’ve basically gone full circle now where borrowed power and any player power related grinds outside of gear have been removed from the game. I do think DF is shaping up to be quite dry.
Who knows - maybe Dragonflight will finally be the expansion where I go back to old WoW content that I’ve missed in order to replay the storylines / quests / achievements.
This. If you dont enjoy the game, play what you enjoy. I dont get “farewell” posts people make…quit if youre not happy. There doesnt need to be a essay on why you are leaving.

You know the truest expansion with literally no daily/weekly timegated power that truly let you play the way you want? No heroism or valor grinding dailies, no badge farming, just playing the game you want?
Yeah, it’s called WoD. Players hated it.
10.0 is about to be seriously bad if 10.0.5 doesn’t follow on its heels with something to do.
