I didnt do TBC back in the day so I thought id try it now. I heard all this hype about community and such.
Im not seeing any of that. Im asking for dungeon groups and questing groups with nothing. Look for a active guild in ORG and nothing.
Dont believe the hype about an easy to find group friendly TBC… It doesnt exist on Kromcrush.
Try another server?
It was like this back in the day on both servers I consistently played on.
Don’t believe the rose-colored nostalgia. People saying it was group-friendly are remembering mostly guild +1/+2 runs.
The group raving about Classic’s community are the same ones discriminating against people that aren’t outright against the boost. I wouldn’t listen to them on matters of community quality
That’s an urban myth. The game community hasn’t changed that much since Vanilla.
It’s funny to see people calling it nostalgia. I’d probably agree if I didn’t have two advantages over these people:
-
I actually played out Vanilla and BC.
-
I adopted classic when it came out. The community was just like it was for the first six months.
Your experience is because the game was ruined, I’m sorry, I feel terribly about it, but you missed out.
(Edit: I actually BELIEVED on my own that it was nostalgia until I re-experienced the amazing early days of classic. Gaslit myself.)
We have a great community here on Mankirk. I enjoy it here.
Sorry, the $39.99 you paid does not make you a valued and respected member of the community. You have to earn that.
Pro tip…get the addon called Global Ignore List and then set up filters to silence all the boost and summon spam. Once you do that, the “community” magically reappears.
GIL even tells you how many messages get filtered. On Pagle, my filters blocked over 4000 messages during my 8 hour weekend session.
Probably depends on the realm.
Also early classic was amazing. Even now, my main experience is great, as I be got a few guilds, friends, and so on.
Kromcrush has no so called community. Its solo players with bad attitudes for sure.
I had high hopes for the classic community experience I heard about but its a myth.
You’re either in a good social guild or you got absolutely nothing. That hasn’t changed since Vanilla.
It doesnt exist. Dont fall for it. The ppl that want you to spam chat for hours lfg are ppl like streamers that will never do it. They will only run stuff with thier guild or other streamers. But god forbid if you suggest a lfd tool to help you get in a grouo and play the game with other players. That is a sin in their eyes.
However. You picked the wrong things to look for in tbc. Its the gameplay that is what its all about. The world isnt super hard but its better than retail where its almost impossible to die if you were to pull an extra mob. The heroic dungeons are a challenge. I dont mean mechanically. I mean the mobs hit hard and the tank does not have super glue aggro. So the challenge is like this. The tank is doing everything they can to keep aggro, while watching thier health drop and being ready to use a cool down if needed at any second. It can be very tense. They are relying on the healer and they know the healer is doing everything they can. Thw healer is relying on the tank to get enough aggro so they can throw big enough heals and counting on the tank to see how much they are capable of healing and mark the pack for approlriate amount of crowd control. They are both praying the dps cam put out damage faster so stuff starts to die and ease the tension a little. The dps is relying on the tank and healer to stay alive so they can kill stuff. And in quite a few of the heroics, if a dps pulls aggro, there is a good chance they are about to die. So its not exactly difficult but it is challenging. But also pretty satisfying when you finish off a pack that you were close to dying on several times.
The tbc experience for me was all about the gameplay. Not what mount a person had or if they did or did not level from level 1.
And the isle daily quests in the later phase. Omg. Its going to be so much fun.
Kromcrush was as great server when classic launched, now it’s a little dead, I was hoping it will pick up on TBC launch but if not, im going to xfer.
I think you will get the community feel once everyone is grinding again, aka June 1st. Make sure you join a decent size guild and it will be a whole different experience - now everyones only logging on to do professions or check ah
Well first, what server you could play could impact it. However don’t sit around in Org looking for things to do, get out and quest, get to 60. It looks like your boosted which is fine, but you can’t expect other people to just jump around looking for a fresh 58 with horrible gear that they want to carry through a dungeon.
Also remember your not playing in TBC yet, your playing prepatch, which for the most part is a lot of people waiting for actual TBC to start, or those who are frantically leveling up their paladins and shamans usually with help from people in their guilds, so its probably a rough time to start.
Once you go through the portal though, start doing quests, start looking for people to group with to do the quests, especially look for a healer who might otherwise be challenged by content, or another new player. If you see someone struggling, help them out ask them if they want to group for quests, build up your friends list.
Do instances, however let people know your gears suspect, most people are cool with that, but better to be upfront than show up, and people realize that its a complete carry. Make sure to offer cookies to everyone, and use your soulstone, do what you can to boost the group.
Then when you find people you like playing, see if they have room in their guild. Another option is to look at the discord channels, but even if you join a guild, you still will probably need to work to become friends with people to where your actually part of the group, and not just another name on the roster.
Its phase 6, buddy.
You can’t show up late, miss the party, and then complain that the party was slow or lame.
Phase 1 was incredible. Groups were everywhere.
This pre patch is extremely rushed and everyone is trying to finish everything they want before release.
There’s also a (idk how large) portion of the playerbase that is super anti boostie but yeah. For horde I recommend mankrik.
That’s how it is on all servers. Mage boosters are destroying leveling worse than paid boost. It’s been like this for a while.
BC’s not out yet my dude. When outlands drops everyone will be looking for a group. And you don’t have to worry about boosts in BC dungeons because no one really gets powerful enough to be able to do that. And real quick, you understand that vanilla zones are not BC, right? These are BC servers, ofcourse most people will already be done lvling in vanilla lands. I know people will pretend that classic doesn’t have a community just because people aren’t running the same dungeons 2+ years into the servers life but just ignore those people. They’re obviously I’ll informed. If you wanted a good vanilla lvling experience then you should’ve started during classic.
I haven’t had an issue getting groups on my server when I was running stuff, but Pagle is pretty populated. I didn’t really have an issue with grouping or finding a friendly guild in Classic or vanilla.
I’d imagine things may pick up when Classic BC actually launches. The prepatch, while bringing some stuff to the table, doesn’t seem like it holds a lot of interest for people to come rushing back, for now.
