I would be farming every rare every day on all my alts right now. But I cant fly. The war on flying in most peoples eyes is just a way to inflate our play time. Adding un-necessary road blocks to content. I thought Cata was a pretty good expansion and it was the only time we ever got flying day1 without even needing to lvl up. It certainly didnt negatively impact my play experience.
I feel like this short time gate was just to try and milk 2 months of subscription time out of people. Lack of confidence in your own patch you thought people might get bored if they could fly right away so lets make them do the game on the ground for a month which depending on their renewal time (like mine) flying might fall halfway through a month sub so then hey we might even trick them into 3 months of sub time!
I came back for love is in the air. Had no idea the patch would drop during that sub period. The fact that this being stuck on the ground is re-awakening the awful feelings of the first 9 months of shadowlands and even if I stayed for 1 more month its still 2 weeks of being stuck on the ground… This expansion is by far worse than WoD ever was. Heck it only has 1 more dungeon than WoD, same number of raids, and WoDs dungeons were actually more enjoyable than these ones are. Didnt think you could top the worst expansion of all time but you did. I honestly want WoDs lack of content back instead of this over abundance of bad content that feels gross to play.
I’m glad we don’t have flying initially as riding on your ground mount helps me learn the zone better. I am looking forward to flying soon though. Now that people are gearing up, rares are dying much more quickly.
Same mindset. While I do agree that the flying requirements are a little
I don’t think there’s a “war on flying”, just the developers have lost touch with the majority of the player-base. I won’t quit the game if they get rid of flying, but I’ll damn sure complain the whole time. Squeaky wheel and all.
The gating gives us time to appreciate things from the perspective of the ground. How to navigate the terrain, not skipping past mobs, working through puzzles and treasures that flying would completely negate. That’s why Pathfinder keeps happening. It’s not for some shady time metric scheme, Blizz just wants us to experience the world a certain way for a little bit.
It’s only a three week wait though and 9.2 will be here for at least a year. It’s not going to kill anyone.
I have all but one of the requirements to get flying already done, and all I’m waiting on now is the story quest to come out. It was brain-dead easy this time around.
It’s not that they were a lot to do this time, but just the waiting to do it is annoying. It’s like everything up to flying is all there is, so they’re gating it as much as they can without losing subscribers. Flying off the bat wasn’t the reason Cata started losing subs. WotLK was the pinnacle of the stories we had until that point, and they’ve never captured that back, but in their eyes, flying was the culprit.
I’m sure you guys love unlocking flying over and over and over again.
I. Hope when they announce the new expac one of the features is “unlock flying” because you literally have had to unlock flying since burning crusade. It’s the dumbest thing ever
Maybe they will give us tier sets again oh wow never seen that before!
They won’t do it outright. But pathfinder and/or delayed flying is here to stay. The whole modern wow design hinges on you being stuck on the ground for a while.
Think about it. Before pathfinder, the game was, for the most part, leveling or instanced. In both events, you’re on the ground.
After pathfinder, there’s a big shift to endgame outside content. Hence, you delay flying to artificially slow down consumption.
Another point, there were more or at least as many no flying zones pre pathfinder than there is post.
With that said, I would have added more pathfinder parts. E.g. pathfinder part 1 : let me fly in the 4 main areas in SL in 9.0.5. Don’t make me wait for 9.1.
I’m all for exploring the zone from the ground for a little while.
Flying this week would have been nice though so I could get to some of the rares before they die… or get to treasures that otherwise require running 100yds away to scale a cliff and get to the thing using a glider…
I could only hope that they eventually just let us cruise the skies after intro quests instead of strolling around for weeks facepalming because we don’t have door of shadows on every toon.
I’m assuming you havent flown since BC , since you demand the respect of your much valued time. Comical to hear someone wail on and on yet they keep playing on and on. See you in 10.0
I don’t mind, because I understand that the developers want us to actually be in the world they designed before we just fly over it.
If you’re going to be so snide about a game that you’re continuing to pay for, it seems like you’re not “respecting your [own] time” (or money).
brise, dude does a fair bit of you know… have you seen the thread he made about mythic+ gearing? i wouldn’t really take anything he says to heart. lol
