Not making the Worgen curse hereditary was a huge mistake

Who the hell chooses the werewolf race just to be british why would you debase yourself like that

Nobody does and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying to you. Rather boldly too I might add

More Americans are Anglophiles than you seem to realize. Any reason that a person choses a race is a valid one as long as it’s not contradicted by the realities of the game and/or setting.

And sorry Curse, there isn’t a Horde race that wears a top hat better than the Vulpera… unless its Orcs.

Unflavored oatmeal? Not in this house.

That is too exciting to be a WoW analogy

My point is: If a member of the Flame is the leader of the night elves, it completely contradicts the night elves and doesn’t reflect what they stand for. Having someone who represents fire, even though the night elves love nature, just wouldn’t fit. In some ways, it’s similar to the worgen.

You choose the race you were sold, but in the game, it’s not the same, and you would feel betrayed. This undermines the sense of truly being part of a proud people. From a player identity perspective, it feels inconsistent.

That Druids of the Flame are traitors is another story.

I’d say it’d be more like having a naga as a leader

And yet the queen of the Naga was once the beloved Empress of the Night Elves.

Things change and evolve.

Yea but that would specifically be a step back not forward, its the calia problem all over again.

The Callia "problem’ was only a problem for people that insisted that it had to be one.

It is however worth noting that the problem became acute when the Cosby Room Gang was running the creative side of things, and we’d been given reason to believe that Blizzard has dealt with that.

It was always a problem, whether the writer is a sex pest or not changes nothing.

The ONLY actual argument I’ve gotten from these types of people is - “I want to play a Human Druid”. Okay? Then start threads and make requests for Blizzard to expand the race options for Druid instead of fundamentally changing the aesthetic of a race.

Just absolutely baffling to me that people would see a werewolf race on the character select screen, pick it, and then start demanding to… not be a werewolf.

But also Kul’tirans exist.

But also also, trolls and tauren exist which are much better options for those with taste.

But the issue is Kul Tirans are fat, and trolls and Tauren are “ugly” so those people don’t want to play them. They want to be a pretty human AND be a druid.

“We must remove the core race fantasy of worgen because there are handful of players out there somewhere, maybe, probably, allegedly, who want human druids!”

Checks out.

(It does not, in fact, check out)

Plot Twist: Those “players” are the devs themselves who actually just hate worgen but they can’t erase them as a playable race so the next best thing is to just diminish the curse and try to push it into the background as much as possible.

Speaking honestly, I don’t think any writing is deliberately malicious. I just think the authors’ sensibilities are wildly out of step with what came before and what the players are hoping for, with few exceptions. I think this is probably also why they are hesitant to write anything except mawkish humans and elves, owing to how disgruntled and vocal the backlash is.

Then they are tasteless, feckless, and weak.

I would like to believe this, but it’s hard to given their track record. If anything I would argue “old” Blizzard regretted adding worgen. That’s why really outside of the worgen starting zone you don’t see much cool worgen content in the game, I mean just look at how much worgen/Gilnean content was cut from Cata and other expansions. Hell, worgen basically didn’t get any content after Cata until Legion with Stormheim. And that was mostly just Genn.

So I believe Old Blizzard hated, or at least regretted adding worgen. Whereas I think New Blizzard, as people like to call blizzard now, are hesitant to write anything but humans and elves which why the worgen heritage and Gilneas Reclamation quest was just hot garbage. It isn’t malicious they just don’t know how to write anything other than humans and elves.
