Not getting the quest "Alpaca it in" have fed this silly alpaca 11 times

quest = Alpaca it in. This quest is not showing. I have done “Alpaca it up” 11 times now. You are supposed to feed the friendly alpaca 7 times then get the quest to get the mount. Here’s a list of when I fed the alpaca. 5-8 @ 10:00am, 5-9 @3:20pm, 5-10 @11:19am, 5-12 @1:12pm, 5-13 @6:25pm, 5-14 @5:39pm, 5-15 @12:45pm, 5-16 @10:17am. All times in server time. I saw the alpaca on 5-15 @3:00pm with no mount quest, and again on 5-16 @3:38 with no mount quest. 5-17 @10:42am. On 5-18 @ 12:43pm, and on 5-19 @ 11:02am. So as of 5-19 I have done this quest that requires feeding the alpaca 7 times a total of 11 times. 8 of those times have been consecutively with no missed days. I just want the next quest so I can get the mount.

I found him again on 5-19 @ 11:30 No quests available. He should be giving the one time quest for the mount. On wowhead I found a post with a script to see the number of times you have fed him. However comments after that post say dragonflight broke the script.

/script print(GetQuestObjectiveInfo(58881, 0, false))

Maybe if someone figures out why the script no longer works then blizzard can figure out why this quest isn’t working because apparently the alpaca forgot how to count.

Yes I (and my husband) have tickets in on this issue. We have both received automated responses saying to check wowhead, etc. /sigh.

Hoping this post can get a gm’s attention so a solution can be found. Or someone who knows how to do the script stuff can see why it’s not working anymore.

First GM response, the day after my original ticket, gave me all the “helpful solutions” like check wowhead to see what to do, post on the forums etc etc etc.

This is not an issue of I can’t find the quest. This is an issue of The quest isn’t tracking how many times it’s been done in order to trigger the next quest. There are multiple posts on wowhead about this issue but they are all from like 2 yrs ago so I was hoping it was fixed.

Got my second GM response today to be told there are no known issues and if I fed him while in a raid group pre-january I have to do it again. Now mind you I listed all of my feed dates and times in my ticket. And that it was during the last two weeks. So unless the ticket backlog is 6 months, no it wasn’t pre-january.

sorry. I’m just frustrated that I can’t get a simple fix to something that’s been an issue for years. We just came back after a little over a year off, a little sad to see that ticket responses still show the gm’s don’t actually read the tickets. I’ve had issues (way back when) with bugged quests where the gm’s would check your account, see you should be able to pickup a quest, and actually trigger the borked quest to work. Of course that was back when gm’s actually talked to you in game, and sometimes even appeared.

Me and my fiance have been doing this quest for almost 2 weeks consecutively now and have never done it in a raid group. Still no mount.

Here’s the last ticket response I received

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to Blizzard Entertainment. Game Master “Shisescelo” here, but you can call me “Celo”. I’ll be the one helping you today with your request.

I will be handling your case with the utmost care and will be doing my best to assist you with your request and provide assistance as soon as possible.

I understand how it feels when things don’t go as planned. I would be more than happy to help you today.

We have received multiple reports of this issue and can confirm it is not working as designed. Our developers are working to resolve this as quickly as possible., and in which case, I would love to ask you to fill a bug report form, in order to provide our developers with as much information as possible to expedite the resolution process to get the challenge resolved.

so yep it’s a “known issue” and they “are working on it”, but want people to put in bug reports for it. However the ticket response didn’t say what they are going to do for us, or others who have been doing this.

I would ask anyone having issues to please put in a ticket and submit a bug report. I know they say they are “working on it” but I have found wowhead posts from back in 2020 where it was an issue. We need them to work on it a little better.

Oh and we are up to feeding the alpaca 14 times as of 5-23 … 9 times consecutively with no missed days

“as quickly as possible” is limited by the fact that it’s impossible to fix any bug unless management lets the developers break away from new content development, which almost never happens for old stuff, unless there’s a surprise surge in players reporting the bug.

So if enough players report this old bug because it’s affecting them right now, it may get prioritized. But “enough players” seems to be “the majority of the active player base”.

Posted May 5th …
Oh I am aware of all of that, been playing since '07 with one break at end of shadowlands.

That’s why I said if anyone is having an issue to put in a ticket and a bug report. I am going to start announcing in zone chat too when I log in there. Not going to bother feeding it anymore but will continue to let people know it’s an issue.

apparently I can’t make a new post since no one else has posted yet so I’ll edit this one.

Edit 6-17 @ 4:25pm central time
Ok. so call me a masochist. I went and fed the alpaca again today (6-17 @ 3:50 server time), did the daily quest. Warned everyone in the zone that he’s borked and it’s a “known issue” that’s being “worked on”. Told them all to track when they feed him and asked them to put in bug reports if the quest doesn’t work for them.

If someone who knows how to do the scripts could take a look at the one I had found on wowhead and sus out why it no longer works that would be a step up on blizzard.

/script print(GetQuestObjectiveInfo(58881, 0, false)) is the script that is supposed to count how many times you have fed him. According to the wowhead comments dragonflight broke it.

/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(58879)) is the script that verifies you have done the daily. This one still works fine.

Final ticket response to the chain of tickets I had in.
Hi Hermione, I hope you are doing well.
I’m Game Master Sanotihia and I’m here to help you,
First of all, I would like to thank you for your patience and apologize for the waiting time. We have received numerous requests over the past few days.

I’m glad to see you’ve been continuing your epic adventure, nevertheless I understand that you cannot obtain the quest “Alpaca It In”. I can see how weird this can be, if you have fed the Alpaca a large number of times, and more than necessary, so I appreciate you reaching out to us to take a further look into this with you! (ง •̀_•́)ง

Actually, we’ve been receiving multiple reports regarding this matter for a few days, and at the moment a workaround/ resolution is yet to be provided. By reporting a bug from your part, you are able to help the developers to gather more information regarding this matter and help the community to investigate it better. That’s why I thank you for your report. This quest already had issues a few years ago, so it looks like they’re back.

While looking through the odyssey you’ve been leading with your mage Minimií I’m sorry to be the carrier of this news, we are unable to start the quest “Alpaca It In” since this is currently being investigated by the Development team. Although the answer is different from what expected, I hope you won’t take this as a setback from the epic adventure you’ve been having so far.

The development team will be in touch regarding updates on this quest through the forums, so I’d like to kindly ask you to keep an eye for further news.

Despite a different outcome, it was a pleasure assisting such an epic player as yourself and I hope you are having the legendary journey, you’ve signed up for!
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions,
Have a great day and take care.

He’s fixed. Yes you have to redo all the feedings, but the script now works and the alpaca gives the mount immediately after the 7th feed.
