Most world quest cannot be done in raid groups, that is groups over 5 people. You just simply won’t get credit for whatever that world quest requires. You have to leave raid groups to get credit. There are some WQ that even though you are in a group require you to collect an item yourself to complete it, so part of the WQ can be completed in a group setting but part of it requires you to do your part and collect what needs collecting.
The only exception to the rule of not being able to do a world quest in raid groups is the world bosses as world quests such as the one’s that pop up in the Broken Isles where there are generally 2, one in the isles, one on the Broken Shore, and in BFA where there is one in either Kul’Tiras or Zandalar and the ones on the warfronts in Arathi and Darkshore when your faction has control.
Just like in dungeons and raids, if the quest is not specifically for a specific raid you won’t get credit on a quest and with dungeons, if is a mythic plus dungeon you typically won’t get credit for your quest that way either.
