Not feeling much joy on my journeys

I can’t imagine it being necessary, Cata leveling is so fast already. I leveled a Hunter to 80 during prepatch without any heirlooms and it took less than 2 days /played. I think I did 4 dungeons the entire time. With full heirlooms it’d be around 30-35 hours to 80 then another 8 or so to 85. If that’s still not fast enough, then there is the boost you can just buy in the shop to circumvent leveling entirely (at least the 1-80 part).

There has never been a single buff buff in the game that you have ever been forced to use. Outside of leveling curve adjustments, all xp buffs have been optional.

There is no need for either side of the JJ debate to suggest that their preferred playstyle must be forced onto the other when it’s an entirely optional buff.

Actually there is… when Cata released they buffed the XP gained from all MOBs and quests, buffed the damage the player does, nerfed the damage done by MoBs in the world and nerfed the amount of XP required in each level range. NONE of those are optional and NONE can be disabled. You’d have no complaints from me if they were optional. (well, actually I’d still complain about the talent trees)

Simply not true

It really seems like it’s mostly true. I don’t like all the xp boosts from JJ to heirlooms but I think I’m an outlier and the vast majority want leveling to be as quick as possible.

Cata leveling is already way too fast for the linear questlines. You outlevel them before you finish them as it is. Exp boosts work much better in vanilla (post level 20, exp boosts are definitely problematic 1-20) because it’s non-linear and makes you do a lot of zone hopping, in cata it’s just terrible.
