I cringe these days when i am with retailers with no vanilla experience.
The lack of threat, line of sight, and even simple mechanics of humanoids is astounding.
More often than not I get some really horrible answers.
If i am a tank and shoot a mob and run behind a wall, I am LoSing a humanoid caster so that
A the mob runs to me
B when the humanoid is low health he doesnt run in to another group and call their friends.
Instead I observe that if i pull said mob, that its A-OK to send pets, demons, and even a warrior to charge in intercepting the mob thinking that its easier to tank as a fury warrior with a 2h than with a stick and board. - yes this is the answer i was given
In closing, my taunt has a cd and it cant save all of you aoeing, sending in pets, and all this douchebaggery. So no. Players are definitely not better than they were 15 years ago.
Early on, most warriors aren’t specced Protection and don’t have much benefit for spending talent points in Protection.
Using a 2h gives them more rage and DPS, which helps them generate more threat to tank better. A shield gives less than 10% mitigation, which is lucky to mitigate 1 extra damage at lower levels.
The rest I agree with, though. Few people know about LOS pulls.
Yeah well you might hold aggro better but the healer cant keep them alive.
I watched him die several times and then picked up the aggro just to prove all i needed was a renew vs him trying to oom the healer.
The healer can heal just fine. They’re wearing Mail/Plate in every slot. The shield doesn’t give that much extra damage reduction, especially at lower levels.
If the healer can’t heal a tank using a 2h, the healer is bad. A shield won’t make the difference until 40-50+.
Also, just saying, but you have Demoralizing Shout and Thunder Clap. You can hold threat in AoE perfectly fine.
Because Classic WoW was made with just you in mind lol.
Instead of being a tad salty about the poor abilities of newcomers, why not help them? Why not point out some things? Sure they might disagree with on some stuff (ie; 2h warr tanking) but instead of putting someone down on a game meant for all, you could just help them. Point out something they might be doing wrong lol.
Ill get my mage and you get your tank. Im sure that if you dont get the first demo shout off, ill pull them off you.
Most casters run in after a pull and if your bloodrage is on cd, good luck.
You can hold aggro if the casters are patient and let you get 3 demo shouts up.
It has been very interesting to see the difference. This is by no way an elitist thing, but you can definitely see the difference in players who have played Vanilla and those who started later on.
It’s actually fun, though. It’s neat to see the reactions of players when they realize they can’t just mow down mobs in dungeons. The only time I have a problem with players is when they are unwilling to learn from their mistakes.
This is massive misconception, that players are better today. They know all the cheats today, all the BIS, all the exploits (like layering abuse). It’s a little more than just knowing where to go.
Too many of you to explain.
Easier to watch them die over and over again until they get it.
Nice of you to assume that I didn’t play in Vanilla. I feel kind of bad for you if this is how you assumingly approach things. Based on your previous post you never mention to your group as the tank to let you take the time to get aggro. Not many people will realize that off the bat. So instead of being a patiently aggressive and a communicative tank, you take the silent stance, expect results, and get mad anyways!!
You guys keep blaming retailers, but a lot of them are Vanilla players that JUST DON"T REMEMBER. If you want the community to be great, be nicer. Be more helpful. Be the change you want to see for the most part. Cause people can and do forget. No ones memory is that good all the time with every aspect.
ah yeah…about that. Back then, below level 60 under geared players would have had a lot more difficulty, not to mention the rep grind nerf just to get in. So yeah, it is cheating.
I am not saying players don’t play well. I am saying there is a lot to abuse in this version of classic wow.
