One issue I’ve noticed is the prevalence of gold buyers spamming advertisements, which seems to be really inflating the economy. Even with quest gold boosts, it can be nearly impossible for a new player to afford basic gear upgrades from the auction house. As a level 23 paladin, I’ve seen green 2-handers listed for 10 gold or more - more money than you get from completing every quest up to that level. This unfortunate situation pushes many players towards buying gold, which continues the vicious cycle.
It isn’t the spamming of advertising that’s doing that.
If you want Blizzard to sell you gold in Season of Discovery just say so. No need to clarify why you are having trouble with a light purse. Planning upgrades from quests/crafting/dungeons and leveraging the AH in your favor to put coin in your inventory takes time.
Better to swipe for gold. Legally with Blizzard, of course!
so an easy solution to this is dont buy the best 2h available. many times you can find of the whale, and of the gorilla and such for A LOT cheaper.
I have leveled recently completely fresh on Crusader Strike and frequently found AH weapons for 60s and less. Otherwise, run dungeons, do quests. Really, the AH wasn’t ever that accessible as first character leveling up, especially when jumping into a server thats been around through a phase of raiding and farming.
Another tip for gold making leveling up. Skinning is doing really well at times if you watch the prices. I parked my bank alt next to the org bank and would check every so often at light leather, and at certain times of the day, it can spike 5s-7s a pieces which equates to 1g+ per stack. I am sure there are other methods others use.
I think much of this new classic community has gotten so used to GDKPS, Boosts, and RMT that they expect to be able to have whatever they feel they need in game. That just isn’t how the game functions until you get established.
In fact, it was very common knowledge and advice back in the day, don’t buy anything from the AH on a first character EVER until after level 40 so you can afford your mount. We even quested strategically to make sure we could afford it.
However, if you go out and level through dungeon runs and BFD, even with the gold boost from Blizzard, you will probably be lacking.
TLDR: Change how you approach the game. You never NEED anything from the AH in vanilla leveling. If you desire it, go make some gold with low level gathering and questing, especially since its 300% of normal silver/gold rewards.
bots have already destroyed the economy… you want to create the demand for more of them???
LOL
