Normal temps for a 5700xt

I’ve gotten this new with this system and its been a while since I had a higher end system like this. Everything I’m reading is that this card tends to run on the warm side anyways, was just wondering what I should be more or less expecting these days.

I’ve seen it spike to around 75 degrees but I’ve got it limited down a bit because I wasn’t sure. Normally runs about 60 or so with current settings.

I’ve read online where AMD says that 110 at the junction point is perfectly normal, but that seems excessive.

Edit: Also just using the auto tuning at this point.

not sure which 5700XT you have & the rest of your specs since there are many factors that impact temps, that said;

75c is down right cool for a GPU, no need to limit it
I would start to limit the GPU if I constant temps (not peak temps) breaking 90c and really worry at 100c (re-install the HSF or purchase an aftermarket one)
110c is too hot for a GPU with most shutting down, crashing, missing pixels and/ or doing harm as temps approach that point.

It’s an MSI 5700xt Mech OC.

Case is a Thermaltake level 20 ARGB. Cooler on the processor is a Deepcool Gamerstorm Castle 240ex.

Really the Temps only ramp up in Bastion and Ardenweld, every where else it’s cool as heck. Just didn’t know if that 110 AMD put out is true or just covering their butts kind of thing.

There’s three metrics you need to watch out for:

Gpu temp (under 80)
Memory temp (under 90)
Gpu hotspot temp (under 110)

The gpu temp is the least important, as usually it’s never that high. It’s usually the memory temperature that is the most critical and often overlooked in card design. Your gpu will throttle if hotspot is above 110, but if you memory gets too hot it can artifact or crash.

I have the XFX 5700XT RAW II, one of the worst designs without modification, and it generally runs under 75c gpu, under 80c memory, and under 90 on the hotspot, by a slight undervolt and very aggressive fan curve.

The default amd fan curve is max 40%, which just simply isn’t enough on some models. I set mine to cap out at 100% at 65c (it measures on gpu temp, and by the time the gpu is 65c, the memory is closing in on 80 and hotspot is 90), scaled down to 50% at 60c.

I use hwinfo64 to monitor these metrics.

if you are at 75c , your temps are cool everywhere. Ardenweld is tough on a GPU, it can cut my FPS in half in some areas with all its lighting and shadows more than a world boss fight.

Looked at the curve today but I’ll need to look exactly where it’s at. I do know it will ramp up to 100% but where that is exactly I’m not sure. I know it’s somewhere around 80 though.

I’ve just been using the Radeon software that comes with it to keep an eye on it.

It also seems that after I play for a bit it seems to run cooler which I found odd but it’s probably more of a byproduct of where I am as I tend to do Bastion stuff first.
