Hello, I only played vanilla a million years ago and now that classic is out I was curious to try out retail.
Where do I learn normal alchemy recipes? All the trainers I found want to teach me cataclysm alchemy but I’m not even level 30. I just want to do some lesser healing potions…
The sorting of stuff in the trainer window is a bit weird for Vanilla and Cata recipes. If you aren’t high enough level for the next Vanilla recipe, the Cata stuff will show up first. If you scroll down a bit, you should start seeing the Vanilla stuff again. Also, once your alchemy is high enough for new Vanilla spells, they’ll pop back up to the top.

alternatively there is an arrow on the right of the trainer window that opens up options… if you select the “usable” one, then it will only show stuff you can actually learn. makes it less confusing.
if you open your profession screen there is an option to see “unlearned” recipes (this is all you don’t know yet) they are sorted by expansion with the lowest on the bottom. at level 30 if you scroll all the way to the bottom and find the recipe you are trying to learn it will tell you what the requirements are - what profession level, what trainer, etc…
Thank you both, I was able to learn some new formulas.
When I tried to filter on available formulas the first time my alchemy level was too low to see the vanilla alchemy ones. Very confusing!
