Hi all, well I came back to the game for SL. I was a pretty good dps back in Cata. So I’m gearimg up and want to try a lfg raid. For my first raid, does it matter which one I should pick? Ok now what exactly are mythics (lol I did not have them back when I played)? Is it just a harder version of a heroic dungeon? Are these 5 man? Last, one more raid question, I also finally leveled a healer. When I get the hang of raiding again as a dps, ill probably try to heal. In a raid, how do the healers decide who is healing who? Is there actually a dedicated tank healer? Thanks all and if anything else I should know, please let me know.
At this moment, there is only one raid in Shadowlands. That being Castle Nathria.
Far as mythics, I’ve never run them, but I’ll share what I know. Did you ever do rifts and greater rifts in Diablo 3? If so, that’s basically the mythic dungeon system.
If not, you begin with Mythic 0 to get a mythic dungeon key. After that, then it’s all about mythic+ all the way to 15 I think. The higher the key, the better the gear…whenever gear drops that is. That’s a current problem with this xpac. I believe there is a timer in Mythic+ so knowing the fights and knowing your damage - interrupt rotations are a must.
You cannot que up for that level like you would normal or heroic, but you can use the LFG tool to pug your own groups. Do so at your own risk. Lots of toxicity there.
Far as the healer questions, yeah, I have no idea. Mad props to the size of your cajones wanting to try healing or tanking nowadays.
Best of luck to you, and keep in mind it is only a game. Have fun and don’t be like some of these fools and get bent around the axle over it.
My recommendation is focus on leveling your char. Finish your covenant campaign, upgrade your covenant gear to iLVL 197. Maybe do Castle Nathria on LFR a few times to get somewhat familiar with the fights. Then roll the dice and pug for normal. Work your way up slowly.
Thanks for the info. Actually I meant that there are different wings (my bad did not realize that was what it was) in lfg for the raid. Is there an order I should pick them? Like if your new should you try one before the others?
Gotcha! I’d honestly just go in order. I was running all of LFR Nathria for several weeks until I got all I wanted out of it. I thought the leather set looked cool and wanted to mog it.
Anyway, the first one, I think it’s got the hunstman, hungering destroyer, and I believe lady inerva in it is a pretty good intro into it. From my experience those always went fairly well, considering LFR can often be a cat herding sh** show.
The next one though, which has Artificer Xymox and the council of blood, those always always every single time get screwed up by somebody. Council is not so bad, but the Artificer can be awful. There are portals that need to be placed correctly throughout the fight, failure to do so = certain death.
The next one has Shriekwing and Sludgefist and Stone generals. Shriekwing and Sludgefist are two that also get screwed up on a very regular basis.
So to answer your question, I’d start at the top and work your way down the list. That’s pretty much exactly what I did. If you finish it all by Tuesday don’t forget to check the great vault. LFR gear is kinda worthless considering it’s mostly 10 levels below our covenant gear. But for the neck, fingers, and trinkets, it might be a good way to fill those slots with 187 - 194 pieces until you can get into some better content.
Getting a bit ahead of yourself there. There’s no more toxicity in M+ as there is in normal or heroic dungeons. In fact, probably less in my opinion.
Experiences may vary I guess.
