Noob Question: What ilvl means?

Ilvl = Ilevel = Item Level
If you mouse over any of your slots on your character display, you will see it shows an “Item level”.
In general, a higher item level is better. Now, that can depend on specific stats, and scaling in old expansions, but in general, you would rather have an item of ilevel 400 than one of 300.
Look at your armoury here:
If you mouse over each gear piece, you see its item level, and at the top it gives your overall average item level, which is 24 at the moment.
As you level and get better gear, that will go up and you will get more powerful as a result.
