Noob here asking how hard is each Warrior spec

I’ve decided to give the game another shot a couple months ago and been enjoying more then when I played last time which was the end of Warlords to the beginning of Legion. For the last few months I’ve been trying different classes and specs to see what I would like and Warrior was a safe bet for me. I had some problems with the ones I like which were Shaman and Monk, Monk being the one I used to play Windwalker doesn’t feel as fun as I remember.

I was wondering how hard are the specializations. Mainly Arms and Protection, I did use my War Within boost on a Warrior character and Fury was fun but I felt I had no connection to him so I wanted to level another one up as my Main. Also is Arms slower paced compared to Fury or are they the same?

Arms is a little slower than Fury, but Fury feels easier and smoother (imo).

Prot isn’t bad, it’s pretty straight forward tanking.

It depends on the build, especially for the DPS specs. Annihilator Fury and Raging Blow Fury will rotate a bit differently, as will Hurricane, Fatality (not optimal, but not awful), Collateral Damage, and Juggernaut Arms.

In general, Arms builds may end up with a button or two (only when Skullsplitter is competitive) more buttons than Fury but with a less consistent rhythm to them (especially relative to Annihilator Fury).

Both Reckless Abandon and Arms will have cases where two options will seem, in the short- or mid-term, almost equally appealing, but one will contextually lead over the other. But, apart from those, both specs are pretty straightforward.

In terms of difficulty due to mechanics, etc… Fury has the greater self-sustain, while Arms instead brings a 6s physical immunity per 90s that you can use on your tank.

  • The latter was a hell of a lot more valuable when tanks were more fragile in Shadowlands, especially during Necrotic or high-key Fortified weeks, but it’s still decent even now.

Arms and fury seem pretty on par with each other right now. Fury is a faster play style than arms but arms has bigger numbers (on individual abilities like MS) if youre into that. It all comes down on what playstyle youre leaning towards tbh. To me, arms feels more engaging than fury this season. I honestly cant speak for prot since i havent played the spec in a long time. slightly bias towards arms right now

Arms is pretty challenging, it has a lot of buttons as well.

Fury is arguably the easiest spec in the entire game.

Hey all just wanted to send this message and say thank you for the responses.

I’ve been playing around with Warrior more after the post and think this is the class for me. I ended up really enjoying Arms as a standard way to play and Fury when I don’t wanna think. I’m not sure if I’ll tank at all with Protection but combine what I’ve experience and all the hero specs for Warrior look cool I’m gonna stick with it.
Now to figure out fashion for the class because I have no idea how to look good in plate lol.

Prot is probably the easiest tank to play imo. You can make some macros to really trim the buttons down to fewer than any other tank without sacrificing much in the way of dps/survival.

Arms is a weird rotation in m+ right now but not particularly tough with some weakauras.

I don’t play fury enough to comment.

What macros are those? I’m wondering if my homemade macros line up with any from the community.

Prot warrior is the worst tank right now in M+, pretty easy to play

Arms is in a good spot, is kinda difficult, no set rotation and is a variation of whack-a-mole mixed with algorithm button priority.

Fury is very simple, but very fast, can give carpal tunnel

While you’re objectively correct, I wish people wouldn’t go this avenue. Prot can complete 30 keys, which 99% of the playerbase will never come near. Play whatever tank, class, spec you find fun, you’re not in content where it matters at all. If you were, you wouldn’t need to ask on here.

All 3 specs are spammy, and you want to prioritize haste pretty high on them (except Fury’s current tier set, which only wants ~25%).

Arms is very clunky with the current tier set, but Haste smooths out the entire spec, so having over 30% makes it feel a lot better.

Overall difficulty: Pretty low.

You’ll want a couple trackers for each spec to ensure certain buffs/debuffs are active, at least. Not required, but it helps for organizing your UI/information flow.

I main BDK tank but my goto alt tank is prot warr no matter how it plays.
my main as dps is furry or arms. The specs can have a learning phase but they are worth it IMO.
