Someone in Stormwind general chat just asked me to sign their guild charter. I have not played in 10 years so i volunteered since i do not have a guild.
They said i was not on the same server as them.
Why are we both in stormwind chat if we are not on the same server?

I was doing a BRD just to verify that i remembered the maze, and not that it matters I did get every boss.
I need to remember LBRS next, that one to me was even more confusing.
in BfA, thereās cross realm zones aka CRZ. That person that has a guild charter to sign; you will never see that person or anyone else youāve randomly met, NEVER! EVER! AGAIN!

When speaking to people on retail (bfa), youāll often see āNameā-āserver nameā. Especially in capital cities (both gen and trade chats). People on your server will not have the -āserver nameā behind their name usually.
What is the purpose of this?
Why not just combine the servers?
They have connected some servers, but I really canāt tell ye why they donāt combine the servers that have low pop with higher pop ones.
Also I suspect the reasoning is to let people play together without needing to re-roll or transfer their characters (since obv Blizz isnāt doing anything to merge the servers).

There HAVE been instances of them combining servers, but really, it would make a lot of people upset if they did that.
Too many people would have to give up their character names.
People would just flip out if they had to change their name. A handful of name changes would end up with a lot of people searching for their friends again. People would have to be careful who they mail stuff to.

Blizz should have hard linked a few low pop realms together to get the population steady.
Never should they have ever done CRZ in the manner they did. Phasing into different shards/layers while crossing a border was the stupidest thing they have ever done to this game.
the purpose was so people wouldnt lose their names and complain. hence name-server format
