Non RTB build in dragonflight?

I love outlaws theme and gameplay but i always hated the rng that RTB had. So hows outlaw without taking any roll the bones talents? I was think about doing a fan the hammer build.

It works fine for prepatch but on beta at max level you are most likely going to be using RTB build variants IMO.

Of course that could change with tuning adjustments.

Rogue is a dead class for me now.

I will never use Roll the Bones.
Assassination is dead due to the way the talents are set up.
Sub is not fun to play and has a weird buff management that is not fun.

Oh well. At least there are a few other class which are still enjoyable…

Rogue is in one of the best places it’s ever been in, design-wise. Assassin and Outlaw are solid. Sub just needs a bit more.

Can I ask why you hate it? I hated it too back in Legion and BfA when it was a finishing move because we had to keep rolling it until we finally got a decent buff. But now that it’s no longer a finisher, I think it’s great. It’s fire-and-forget and all the buffs help me somehow.

Because you can get “bad” rolls, and that feels bad. Feeling bad sucks. It’s not fun.

The entire ability is the antithesis of good gameplay and good design. I don’t know a single person who likes it. There are those who “put up” with it, and those who don’t. I am of the latter.

Just remove it and buff Outlaw to compensate.

That’s funny, because right now, Rogue is one of the best classes to play.

All 3 specs are fun to play and on beta are viable.

Outlaw is demolishing it on the beta, I suspect alot of people will try it out.

Fun is subjective my dude.

No one said they “don’t do good dps.”

I like it. I don’t mind the variance. Every buff changes my gameplay somehow and it spices up the rotation.

You’ve hit the nail on the head actually. Having to constantly re roll felt so bad. And its not like i could ignore it because of how much of a dps buff it was.

So yeah it left a very bad first impression on me.

I’m in the same boat. I hated the finisher but as it stands now I enjoy it because it adds variety to gameplay where things can be trucking along and all of a sudden I get all the buffs and my screen lights up. It’s fun in the way that few other classes are.

I’ll put my two cents into this. Roll the Bones is a terrible ability in DF… because it is one of the only non-first abilities that is not automatic but that you have to take in order to play your class properly. It and weirdly balance form for druids for… Balance druids. I would not mind it as a concept or even an ability, but I want to play a ghost strike main-gauche killing strike build because I don’t play an outlaw, I play a stealth warrior that teleports around (with swords. I wish I could play subtlety. I love that spec but no swords hurts too much. Like this fantasy setting can’t handle people that are subtle with swords.
