Non-Evoker Dracthyr are odd to me

Now I’m not saying I think they shouldn’t have other classes. Not at all

It’s just weird that if a Dracthyr chooses to study magic or combat, they mysteriously forget how to use their own body.

They’re in combat using magic or weapons, and have no idea they have wings and can fly. Or that they’re a dragon and can breathe fire

I guess it’s the consequence of having a race to tightly linked to a specific class.

Anyway that’s my random thought for the day

Maybe non-evoker Dracthyr can’t breathe fire? who knows. They are engineered, after all.
Might be less able with their wings to maneuver in combat too.

Sorry, just my spitballing.

The Sundered Flame were using Dracthyr rogues against the Dragonscale Expedition and a Dracthyr mage in a dungeon during Dragonflight’s launch to which it’s explained that Evokers are the Elite Dracthyr in Neltharion’s army, felt it made sense it should’ve happened sooner. :robot::thought_balloon:

edit: Although as a melee main, I probably notice them using something like an axe up close. :robot: :axe::dracthyr_uwu:

I mean, no Dracthyr can enter into combat while actively flying. Evokers can use a combination of magic and their wings to keep a bit mobile, but they aren’t scooping multiple people into the air for several minutes or breathing fire/arcane/dream without being Evokers. The only really physical thing that it is odd that they can’t do is their tail spin, I’d honestly expected non-evokers to just get both and have it be a shared CD like goblin rockets.

Being 1/50th the size of actual dragons and in a completely different body posture, they are somewhat limited in their dragon capabilities. I think it makes sense they are only able to train certain attributes while excluding others. Breath attacks are Evoker’s training, physical body strength become Warrior or Rogue, and the others focus on magic.

Evokers were rare among Dracthyr. They were the most powerful and elite that mastered every essence that was imbued into them. Not all could do what they did and use the power the way they did.

Non-evoker dracthyr were alway part of the narrative and should have been available at expansion launch. It’s wild that they weren’t.

I don’t think it’s that they forgot, its that they don’t need to.
They are after all scientific test-tube baby experiments, so it’s not like one form is any more natural than the other.

But Evokers physically need the Dracthyr form to operate. A Fire Mage, or Warrior, does not. In fact having a tail and wings flapping about could be a physical disadvantage.

I really want to love Dracthyr but the lack of transmog is rough, man.

its literally described in their starter zone and through df multiple times that the evokers were the superior dracthyr, the elite, better than the rest. so non evokers being unable to do what evokers do as effectively, or in some cases, at all, makes sense

You mean I’m a joke to you? sniffle.

I think being a SHADOW DRAGON is pretty awesome, thank you very much…

All 3 of them?

This really only explains the use of dragon magic. Not the use of their physical body.

How do they soar and fly around and then forget they have wings the moment they enter combat?

The lore is flimsy at best

It would be kind of OP if they could just float up in the sky and shoot the opponent with magic, shots or breaths indefinitely.

Animation-wise though how cool would it be for Dracthyr fire mages to pyro blast or chaos bolt out their mouths?

edit: …or for drac warlocks to chaos bolt out their mouths. I KNOW the lore there is silly but

umm, i guess that’d be cool. Well, more fiery hot. lol. I can see the appeal.

Yeah im right now with a Dracthyr Warlock, and not gonna lie, it feels awesome being Dracthyr, being able to fly and all.

But you feel kind of a “lesser dragon” at least not “Aspect Blessed”. The way i handled it is that this non Evoker Dracthyr is not one of the main 5 colours. Which for me, this Evoker being Red, makes sence.

Which i guess it makes sence. Now this Dracthyr needs to go and get his “Fel Blessings” (i already took power from a daemon, now my spells are green)
