Non-cookie cutter rogue specs

Nobody is claiming anything about what’s fair or who is lagging. You are bringing that to the conversation. Not every post is about what other people think is needed to be effective in a group. Maybe they don’t want to be in a group, they are interested in having solo fun.

No one is arguing here about what is most effective in raids or even dungeons - it was about spec choices that could be fun for a rogue that is not one of the cookie cutter ones.

Some of you are so myopic you seem to think that your end game is the only game that other’s are interested in playing.

To be fair going end game is the way to get the really unique builds, playing as a team to succeed for solo content is just like real life. Learning to work with others is an essential skill my man. Spell damage specs for hunters and rogues and pallys exist but you gotta get those bwl epics.

Here is my build that I made for my rogue. I used it multiple times and to me is the best for out in the world as well as 5-10-15-20 mans. Sure it isn’t absolutely min maxing but when you are solo out in the world, I love it. Great for farming AND leveling. MOD is just too amazing not to have for me. Way too many quests and can be completed by sneaking around or opening chest or even SM/RFD/BRD farming for gold. Only downside is not having blade flurry, that thing is just amazing but in return you have imp. sap, master of deception, cold blood etc. Another thing is that you end up having Master of Deception 5/5 at 28 which is the perfect level to solo the poison quest. Poison quest is VERY difficult to do when you get it, unless you do it with 5 other rogues… But in case you do solo… It’s perfect. Here is the progression I use:
|Talent Progression|Level|
|Start with Combat|
|2 in Imp. Sinister Strike (2/2)|10,11|
|Switch to Assassination|
|2 in Remorless Attacks (2/2)|12,13|
|Switch to Combat|
|3 in Imp. Gouge (3/3)|14,15,16|
|5 in Precision (5/5)|17,18,19,20,21|
|2 in Endurance (2/2)|22,23|
|Switch to Subtlety|
|5 in Master of Deception (5/5)|24,25,26,27,28|
|5 in Camouflage (5/5)|29,30,31,32,33|
|1 in Ghostly Strike (1/1)|34|
|3 in Initiative (3/3)|35,36,37|
|1 in Elusiveness (1/2)|38|
|3 in Imp. Sap (3/3)|39,40,41|
|Switch to Assassination|
|3 in Malice (3/5)|42,43,44|
|3 in Ruthlessness (3/3)|45,46,47|
|2 in Malice (5/5)|48,49|
|1 in Relentless Strikes (1/1)|50|
|5 in Lethality (5/5)|51,52,53,54,55|
|2 in Murder (2/2)|56,57|
|2 in Imp. Slice and Dice|58,59|
|1 in Cold Blood (1/1)|60|

I can tell you from experience alone that if you want to level as effectively as possible, you’ll go straight for precision, and never be without it. What you do with the rest of your points is up to you, but don’t be quick to max out the rest of combat. You see weapon specs aren’t ideal for leveling, as you want flexible slots. Also, malice is more valuable than dual wield spec, while relentless/ghost are more valuable than blade flurry or adrenaline rush. Thus mixing builds is more effective than just pouring it all into combat.

Daggers are not effective until you can get precision+hemo in the same build, which means 40+. Main handing one before then either means not having the strike, or not having the precision. A sword/mace rogue doesn’t have this problem.

As long as you’re performing up to par who cares, i wouldn’t want to join a group that dictates 100% of play time. You do you.

As Long as you Bring your Gold for the carry Naljara, I have no problem with your build either.

I am so happy to see someone acknowledge the title and purpose of this post. So many of the other people just.don’t.get it. They saw “rogue” in the title, and blocked out everything else; I guess.

It’s so rare that I see anyone not post about the “best builds,” or the best this, and best that. The OP wants to have fun. Imagine! And I get that “fun” for the min/maxer is min/maxing. But they don’t seem to understand that my “fun” build is for me to have fun: which means being creative, individualistic, and role playing, in my case, a ninja rogue.

Anyway, thank you for understanding.

You and I are likely in the majority, if one could poll all the players at large. And people like you and me will probably be satisfied with Classic for far longer than the min/maxers who will evidently have a definite end point - when they have all bis gear and have completed all the raids. Personally, I am not looking to finish this game.

I’d love to have a whole guild of people with this outlook. We could call it, just brainstorming, “For the Fun.” We could farm in a group for some rare mats our crafters need; or just get together to /dance and chat, in some out-of-the-way inn.

That we have this Classic WoW should not be taken for granted. I plan to stop and smell the Peacebloom.

Yes. If the game is fun for you, then you are playing it right. It is really that simple.

I would play with you and your friends . . . except you are Alliance and I would have to kill you.

I’m already planning for a female Orc shaman, named Lozen, after the Apache woman who was with Geronimo. She went into trances to tell where the enemy was, and other such shammy things.

We completely get that. But we’re just pointing out that if your fun is a hindrance to the rest of the group, they’re not going to want you. This doesn’t necessarily mean raiding, this can be something as simple as just doing quests with another player.

Classes are based on the trinity, being a rogue that’s not doing their fair share of the damage isn’t going to last in many 5 mans. Play alone however you want to play the game, but in groups, you play how the group wants, because it’s not about you anymore.

After the name claiming on the 12th, I’ll look you up here and we can trade details.

I will be on a RP-PVP or PVP realm in the west coast data center.

I guess… if you only want to min-max in PVE for Raid only, but this is Classic WoW and there is a whole hell of a lot more to the game than simply Raiding.

I thought about it, but there isnt much reason to mess around with weird specs unless you like burning gold on respecs.

You could absolutely get improved sap in a CB/Prep build though.

No “I” in team, huh? I don’t think you do get it. This thread is about going off the beaten path. It is about being creative and having fun.

Thank you for your warning; I guess. Thank you for posting that warning, in an otherwise fun and positive thread. I assure you that it has been taken into consideration.

But then again I don’t pve :sunglasses:

I’m very confused about the objective of this build, what are you going for?

I’m all for odd builds btw

Right, but I want to use daggers.

The whole time.
