Non Alcoholic Brewmaster Option

Hello

I really like the play style of Brewmaster monks, but have a hard time going back to play mine since I’ve gone sober. Pretending to chug alcohol in a game while I have made a decision to cut it out of my real life as a whole, makes the spec a bit revolting to me. I wanted to voice my opinion for an NA option for Brewmaster. It probably sounds silly, but a tea master, or something of the sort, is something I am genuinely interested in.

I’d like to finish this post by saying, I do not wish to change the theme of the spec especially for those that like it the way it is. I only want the option to change it for myself and others like me.

Thank you

Nothing in any of the spell/talent descriptions I see say anything about it being alcohol of any kind. “Brews” is what it is referred as. Tea infused with the magic of Niuzao the Celestial Ox is the only thing I can find. Ever had Kombucha Tea? Just think of it as that. Beer isnt a traditional asian spirit anyway, so just take it as a strong Chai or Kombucha.

Honestly, not a bad idea. I guess I presumed too much of the theme of the spec.

Real Kombucha is actually alcoholic. The bubbles in it come from fermentation of the alcohol. Even the stuff you buy over the counter (as long as it is real) is 1-5% alcohol… so a weak beer.

I guess another thought I had, does anyone know if it is possible to alter the names of abilities via the use of macros or add-ons?

you can create a macro for every move in the game and change the name and icon. Then just hit /castwhateverspell

Example my big cools spell is labeled “Burst Button” and it looks like
/use 13
/use 14
/castXuen
/castOrcracial

So it’s labeled one thing but does 4 other things.

Thats what I did too. Chrono Trigger summed it up best.

“Sir I think that’s enough sugar…”
“Quiet! Can’t you see I love soda pop!”

Ted Woolsey is a national treasure.

And here I thought my Monk was chugging kerosene or something the way he keeps belching fire.

I see what you are saying but so is real bread. All I was trying to imply is that it doesnt really ever say alcohol, and I dont think any culture considers Kombucha Teas a an alcoholic beverage.

If your dealing with an addiction downing alcoholic beverages is bad.

Doesn’t matter if you personally don’t consider them alcoholic, they are 1-5% on average so it is no different than downing cheap beer.

If your addiction is bad to the point you can’t play a video game, then you need to get off of the internet. This entire discussion is silly.

They could add a TEA option, its within the class fantasy.

There are several types of NA brew my friend

You laugh a bit but it always turned my off the entire brewmaster spec. a human belcing fire is just not natural ( and I know it’s in a world of magic and high fantasy, but I would be totally ok if breath of fire was supposed to be chi powered, but pretending you can do that by chugging beer ? Beer isn’t even flammable )

I know being an alcoholic is hard, but are these posts really necessary? Just don’t play it or pretend it’s something else. Don’t ruin it for everyone else. Also I have friends who are alcoholics and this sort of thing wouldn’t even register on their minds as serious.

I’m not the one with addiction the OP is. Maybe learn to read and reply to the correct person.

I only chimed in to point out how stupid it was to suggest alcohol beverages to a recovering alcoholic.

This is you right?

Of the two of us, I’m clearly not the one who needs to learn to read.
