Nobody wants High Elves

I thought high elf debate was over when Blizz decided to give Velves skin colors
Haha think it was the best move they could make but the debate is still ongoing :smirk:

The debate is basically over. Or at least it will be once the skins go live and the allied race customization pass adds some traditional hair colors (and maybe some new hair styles) to Void Elves. Once that’s done the Alliance High Elf aesthetic will be complete and the debate will lose a great deal of wind from its sails.

Obviously on one hand you’ll still have a few hangers on who will keep asking for an Alliance High Elf allied race, and on the other hand you’ll have trolls who will bring up the topic just to spam the forums and stir up controversy for their own amusement.

But I believe that most of the people who would have supported the former will be satisfied with their High Elves through Void Elves once they have all the options necessary. And by the same token, the latter people won’t be able to stir up much, if any, controversy because most of the people on both sides of the debate will have moved on.

With only a few pro-helfers and anti-helfers still willing to engage in a debate that is, for the most part, settled, topics about High Elves just won’t get the same traction anymore.

I know that once I’ve at least got: jet black, stark white, rich brown, and ash blonde hair colors, and a hair tentacle toggle, I’m basically finished with my crusade. Sure, I’d like more hairstyles, and other options, but they aren’t a high priority for me. About the only priority left for me will be asking for in-game lore additions at that point.

Once I can complete the Alliance High Elf aesthetic, I’m done devoting support to “the cause”, because I’ll accept High Elves through Void Elves as a good faith compromise.

People want high elves. Is this serious? Void Elves =/= High Elves. I want to be a ELF paladin on Alliance. Currently I cannot do that. Why it is exclusive to Horde makes absolutely zero sense.

Being a Paladin is not required to be a High Elf, and we never know what classes will open to what races in the future.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t ask for the classes you want on a race, just that one class does not define a race.

High Elf should be a legitimate race on the character selection screen not an allied race

And a lot of people would agree with you (and just as many would disagree). But we have what we have now, and Blizzard seems to have turned its focus away from adding derivative allied races and more towards adding derivative races as customization to their parent races. For all intents and purposes, Void Elf is the “parent race” for High Elves on the Alliance because it’s the only playable Thalassian we have access to.

Yeah, how dare I not want a nearly identical race on the Alliance side when the Horde has had them for over a decade now. Can we use that empty race slot for something more interesting, please?
