then why the hell it wasn’t so popular at the age of everyone hating vista?

That I can’t say. I know I loved XP back in the day.

HATED Vista!! OMG. . I held out as long as I could on that one.

Do u think everyone playing the stress tests are running Windows 98. The game will obviously work with modern Windows.

If I recall correctly, the hardware support wasn’t great. At the time, only the “workstation” manufacturers were really bothering with making 64-bit drivers.

I still use Windows 98 on my media server, its extremely lightweight, ensures everything can be accessed lightning fast, no auto updates getting in the way, it auto boots whenever the power fails.

No of course I don’t use it for gaming, its just a box connected to my network. I haven’t even had to use remote desktop in over 2 years because its so reliable, that’s why I like it.

XP 64 could run 32 bit code. I played WoW on it for years, at least until most of my stuff stopped getting driver support on it, and I switched to Win7 64bit.

I think it’s a given that classic WoW won’t support anything below 7, And it already has support for the new OS’es, err Operating Systems, it worked nicely out of the box on my Windows 10. If it can work on a Windows 10, it can work on a windows 7, and vice versa.

By the by, there is a 64 bit version of XP… well was.

I’m lost. So I need to upgrade from Windows 95?? I wondered why no one is ever on Vent.

that’s weird, considering the fact that servers were the first real target audience.

I recall booting a Windows 3.11 on a 2008 computer. After the POST screen, it would boot in a second. In fact, it was so fast, that my monitor often just wouldn’t display the Windows logo, due to that resolution change, that makes the screen black for a moment.

And, what was surprising, my 2008 network card had drivers for Windoes 3.11, despite being flagged as “Vista compatible”.

2006 was the year I dumped my Win98 1st edition for an XP.

I don’t remember if I played WoW on it or not, but definitely played SWG on it. I got the new pc the same month I switched games basically.

I remember how I played Guild Wars 1.

And, in 2009 or something, they announced that they’ll be dropping Windows 98 support. I was already on Vista, but still cried.
