Nobody to group with

I’m doing soul of iron on obsidian edge and it’s very rare to find anyone who will accept a group invite.

Most people are doing hardcore addon.

This seems weird to me for a few reasons:

  1. Classic WoW social aspect is huge. This addon makes it feel like I’m in a world with bots.

  2. There is a weak AH economy. Nobody can trade. I know this will change down the line.

  3. Many people are dropping like flies using the addon. Soul of Iron is like hard difficulty whereas addon is like ultra nightmare mode. How many people actually beat hard mode before jumping into hardest mode?

Because they are all dying. This is why Blizzard will never do a HC server. It would be empty.

Don’t play on the unofficial hc server. I don’t have these issues on mine.

I personally am not using that addon because I saw that it basically plays the game for you. it tells you where to go and everything. if I want to lvl and do it efficiently, in essence mastering the classic season I want to do it my way. not through an addon.
sorry op

I love the Soul of Iron challenge, it’s about as hardcore as I need.

Hardcore rules don’t allow grouping, I believe.

Change server honestly… while this hardcore challenge stuff is cool within the community… it’s completely heartbreaking towards any other normal player on that server. It’s not fun having people act like bots, ignoring group invites or simply ignoring chatlogs, sniping a 10 min respawn timer elite while 4 other people wait and cant group. Nice social experience. Goodluck on that server I would change it if I was you.

i made it to level 9 bro! Went all the way through the scout the jasperlode mines, on the way out ran into a pack of wolves and 1 bear.

So before there was only community rules around Hardcore, one of which was no grouping unless it was for dungeons/raids and only with other HC players.

I’m trying to level a HC character and don’t plan on doing dungeons or raids tbh. I just want to 1-60 no deaths, no groups, no trading, etc.

You know there is another PvE server??

Word, OP.

I’m so tired of it. In addition to running the add-on, which forbids the players from even basic sociability, most of the HC kids are rude on top of it.

They poach mobs on purpose, are openly inconsiderate of non-HC players, and act offended when you offer to group or offer them healthstones, etc.

The AH is utterly crippled with more than half of the stock selling for 1c over vendor price.

I don’t get the HC thing. Soul of Iron is FUN. We have some guildies who wanted to do it, and we’re having the best time protecting their buffs and supporting their efforts. It’s social. It’s a group project. You know…fun!

I don’t get it, either, Perditiona

So, there is difference between Soul of Iron, Hardcore Challenge, and Road to Ragnaros.

Hardcore Challenge

This has been a staple of the HC community for quite a while. It’s basically a solo-self mode. You’re not allowed to group, except for dungeons - of which you’re allowed 1 run each, you’re not allowed to trade, and you’re not allowed to use outside resources (sending yourself things in the mail), and you’re not allowed to die. If you die, you delete. Before the addon was developed, every run had to be fully recorded from start to finish, either through your computer or using vods on twitch. These recordings then had to be uploaded, watched, and verified by group of mods within the HC community. If you passed, your name went into the Hall of Legends. You can find more information about it at classichc dot net. At level 60, you become Immortal and are free to do whatever you wish with your character, including dying.

Soul of Iron

This was implemented by Blizzard as a nod to the hardcore community. There were no rules, no “get out of jail free cards” for DCs or griefing (like being mind controlled, flagged, and then killed). There are no rules to this. This is basically a player deciding on their own that they want to play without dying. They can group, use the AH, do whatever they want basically.

Road to Ragnaros

A community event based off the Hardcore event where the community tries to kill Ragnaros without dying. To participate in the community event, you must have completed the Hardcore challenge, following all the rules, and have your 1-60 run verified. Once you reach 60, instead of becoming Immortal, you now enlist in the Road to Ragnaros. You can trade, group, and do dungeons freely, but only with verified HC level 60s who have enlisted in R2R.

The reason why this blew up so much is because of the addon that was developed. Before, every second had to be recorded then watched and verified. With the addon, it tracks everything. Whether you’ve grouped, dungeon IDs, blocks mailboxes, announces deaths - basically does what before someone had to spend hours doing. Not too mention, a lot of big name streamers got onboard for the Road to Ragnaros event, leading to an explosion of people all wanting to play HC, like their favorite streamer and his closest 2000 friends.

You’re wrong

I think you’re confusing the hardcore addon, which basically only blocks mailbox interaction and announces death with the RestedXP addon.

Restedxp is like the new zygor, just made by speedlevelers and world 1st players.

It’s a drawback but hc is something different and been kinda fun. Being in one of their big guilds definitely adds a community aspect. From my experience it’s a very supportive culture.

Well, I’m convinced, now.

Nah but for real hardcore rules allow grouping but only for a dungeon and you can only do each dungeon once, but the grouping allows you to travel there together as a group. Which means its a bit of a grey area because some groups could ‘accidentally bump into’ mobs along the way and farm exp together but still, hard to say if that would be faster or not.

Ah, kk.

Did not know that.

Thanks.
