There’s no reason to do Cata Classic because it’s largely the same as modern era WoW minus the advantages of modern era, like M+.
It is the uncanny valley between old school wow and modern wow. There’s no reason to revisit it or WoD.
Instead, revamp raid bosses and dungeon bosses / trash in vanilla. Wrathify the talent trees a bit so there are fewer meme specs in vanilla. Start adding raid tiers to vanilla. Add arena to vanilla. Add heroic dungeons to vanilla with this new raid tier catch up.
Start over from there.
If you want to play cata, you might as well just buy dragonflight because that’ll be better.

Have they made an official announcement about Classic Cata? I think I’ve kind of been under the impression all along that they would stop with Wrath.

In an interview they said that they are “definitely doing it because there’s a lot of great raids that people didn’t get to experience”

I honestly can’t think of too many people who would be excited for Cata Classic. It was a dumpster fire of an expansion.

wrath classic was the descent into modern wow too but the babbs all started with it so they play for nostalgia

Don’t be surprised if the demand pushes blizzard to make a cata classic I in time sure do see it coming if the demand for it and money is there.
This is more or less what I’m saying. Go back to vanilla + some fixes/updates to very boring bosses + new content that was cut from the original vanilla road map.

Yes, but with more and more things to suggest that a world revamp is going to eventually be in the works, the idea isn’t so crazy once we’re post DF.
To my knowledge? No. However, they HAVE sent out survey e-mails regarding Cataclysm Classic. Keep in mind that both BCC and WotLKC got these as well.
It’s always been a silly impression in my mind, especially as more time has moved on and more and more people complain about the world state of the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor not matching what they are supposed to be lore wise.
The original version of those areas was in the game from November 23rd, 2004 to November 23, 2010. That’s six years to the day. At this point, we’ve had the post Cata version of those areas for longer than the originals.
While opinions on Cata itself will be very mixed, one has to remember that there will be a subset of players that either weren’t there for the original release, or that want to see the progression of those events again. As much as another subset would like to see Classic forever remain in a state no later than Wrath, I myself believe that moving on is inevitable, especially if all traces of Cata era Azeroth get wiped away down the road.
If it does indeed happen, then I predict you’ll see Classic move up little by little alongside Retail with Classic staying roughly six or seven expansions behind Retail.

The real question to get the answer to would be how many Cata private servers are there out there? I’ve never played on a private server, but always had the impression that there were a lot of classic, bc & wrath private servers. Adding these to classic made good business sense, if that’s indeed the case.

They change them in both.
In cata, they FORCE you to finish a talent tree and take it’s capstone BEFORE you are ALLOWED to invest into other trees.
This kills every hybrid spec in the game.
Then, they go even further in MoP and get rid of trees all together.
