My son has been playing with a friend and they both have level 7 chars. While my son has his own account, his friend is playing on her dad’s and after pre-patch (the dad played through BFA but has War Mode off too, but my son doesn’t have BFA so obviously hasn’t played through it) they can no longer play together on their low level toons on the same server because they’re out of phase.
Is there any way to get them in the same phase again? They even tried starting new chars and they’re still out of phase. My son doesn’t want to play any more since he can no longer play with his friend. They didn’t have this issue before pre-patch.
Usually grouping up fixes that problem.
Are they grouped and still not seeing each other?

Correct. It says they’re in a different phase.
A few instances can cause this. You’re either not in the server (Which can sometimes fill in a low population by another). Another is there are moments during quests can possibly “Phase” you and making the two players unable to see each other until the quest in question is complete.
The usual fix is get into a Party together, and if that doesn’t work, stay in that party and “Sync” up in the map window. It will ensure that they’ll share the same quests as well as the phase they’ll be in. The somewhat downside being is that whoever is higher level (If there is a lower level) will be brought down to the player’s level.
The latter issue tends to happen more because of Chromie trying to “Timeline” of giving players the choice of which expansion to play but that seems to affect a lot of players not seeing another until they hit…level 45? I think? Whatever makes them obtain their Heart of Azeroth by that point.

They’re both on the same server and starting brand new characters of the same race. I can have them try the sync thing today - didn’t know about that. I was thinking it had to do with 1 account having played through BFA and the other not. They’re both in the same starting area just phased from each other but the sync sounds the most promising.
Trying to play with two accounts, but no option to sync even. I’ve done this before, “helped” a lower lvl alt, but it’s not available now.
This thread is three years old. Party Sync is a thing now and does work.
Not if one alt is in Chromie time and the other isn’t. If both are in present or same Chromie time, it does work - which was the case when I got both in the same timeline.
