So, I resubbed to try out the pre-patch. I also wanted to go back and try and get some of the raid gear I missed while I wasn’t playing, but since all raids are awakened until War Within launch, there is currently no way to get older gear since all the raids are dropping the awakened set. I don’t want to have to wait 3+ years just to be able to comeback and get a chest piece. If anybody has any recommendations on how to get normal mode appearances for season 2 gear, I would greatly appreciate it. Otherwise I really hope Blizzard won’t disable the ability to receive previous raid gear earlier than expected in the future.

In Shadowlands they added a console to the front of the raid that turned on the Fated feature for raids. I would assume/hope they do the same for Dragonflight.
That’s actually a common misconception. The button at the start of the raids didn’t turn Fated on and off but rather the extra mechanics associated with Fated - there was no way to return them to their original difficulty, only turn off the extra “affix” that Fated had. Since Awakened has no such system, we have no toggle.
But I agree that giving the option to turn off Awakened would be good, and it’s honestly ridiculous that a toggle didn’t exist from the start of Season 4.
