For some reason, when I play in full screen mode, I do not get any text notification sound on my Mac. It also keeps my iPhone from playing any notification sound. This happens regardless if I have the messages app open or not. I do get them if I am cmd-tabbed out of the game. But once back in the game, I no longer get them.
Honestly that has nothing to do with wow and everything to do with imessage. Heck it’s been that way since 10.13 and it’s a terrible change. imessage won’t give text notification sounds in a lot of situations. Heck, I don’t even use full screen mode with wow, but imessage also won’t make notification sound if i’m wearing apple watch, or if chrome is open or if a LOT of other conditions are present. like to even get a sound out of imessage in 10.13.x+ i have to pretty much turn off phone turn off watch and close all programs, so it knows “HEY, it’s ok to disturb me”…
it’s like SUPER EXTREME do not disturb mode apple added to 10.13 that you can’t disable :\
It’s part of their code to only deliver notification to one device, for text, and it just absolutely favors phone/watch if their available or if they think you won’t see it on mac, even though logically you and I knw you’re more likely to see/hear it on mac if you’re sitting at mac.
