No support or help if accidentally waste spark of ingenuity

Hello all. I’m sure you all are just going to flame me for this, but man, this issue really got me down.

I worked toward being able to make my engineering goggles, had one spark of inspiration left (used the other to order my mainhand) and was trying to be super careful, but I ran back and forth to crafting bench too many times just getting stuff together to perfect the craft, and happened to have the stuff to make the mail version of the goggles (I wear leather) and accidentally blew my spark on something I can’t wear, trade, or breakdown.

This is a time-gated process, and early in the expansion, losing such a resource is a huge detriment and a major bummer - and in my opinion, flawed and somewhat unfair. I reached out to blizzard and spoke to multiple GMs who refused to assist in any way. With this new and overhauled crafting system, I think there needs to be some way to undo a craft for a limited time after it is completed (undoing everything from the skill point and knowledge gain to the craft). If you spend knowledge, learn a recipe, or craft anything after the craft in question, it would immediately nullify this proposed “undo” procedure. Or, at the very least, while someone smarter than me contemplates a solution to this glaring craft system flaw, maybe the GMs could be a little more helpful and understanding. This whole thing totally took the wind out of my sails, and I have a hard time motivating myself to continue logging in to an otherwise fun expansion.

“Pay attention to what you craft” - not a super useful suggestion, and obviously not fool-proof.

They should make it so you can scrap an item.

Lose all the BOE components, but recover the spark and primal chaos.

That’s actually not a bad idea.

Then item switching from content to content would become a thing.

Let’s no. Or give it a half mats penalty like BfA did.

Sparks aren’t going to be rare in a few weeks anyway, you didn’t waste any.

This would be a nice QoL change.

Especially if we create items at 384 and they turn out to be pretty horrible for their Ilvl. ( Lookin at you darkmoon dance deck )

Probably should research that before hand.

Pretty hard to do this day 2 of the expansion rofl. The QE list didnt even exist at that point either. They should buff underperforming trinkets/items?

Not really no.

Wowhead had a ton of material even before day 1.

Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. Probably shouldn’t crafted it ahead expecting a buff.

Wrong. There was none back then for this specific item. Specifically the on use working like Chi Wave and sometimes not working mechanically.

Generally the insc trinkets and high ilvl crafted items are worth making in prep for raids, etc.

Try again troll.

First time ?

Darkmoon decks are always hit or miss.

Knowledge isn’t trolling dude.

Lack of knowledge in this case as you are not even a healer and just are here to derail the thread.

How? Someone would have to still recraft it for you unless you can do it.

Yeah, so all the BOE items aka the materials to make it. We have quality too so you would have to get quality materials if you’re gonna make a swap.

Don’t you only get 1 every 2 weeks? That means 3 in 6 weeks and some recipes require 2. The primal chaos though that drops like candy so that’s nbd.

Ok, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t research if the Darkmoon deck is actually good before investing for the inflated mats price it usually costs at the start of the expansion.

It’s always hit or miss.

No, just offer my opinion.

You think raid/m+/pvp guilds don’t have full networks of crafters ?

That’s the cheap part.

BfA refunded only half your sanguicell after they realised refunding all of it was too op.

After challenge 5, you get unlimited number of them so long as you run content and kill bosses.

I remember in BFA, if you crafted the engi goggles, you could put them in that Shred Master MK 1 to break it down and you would get all your Breath of Bwomsamdi back.

There’s no reason there shouldn’t be a similar system to get your sparks back.

Half, it was nerfed mid Uldir because people were recrafting their pieces to get BiS stats.

That’s another point : they want you to use missive for specific stat combos, increasing the difficulty and thus limiting the upgrade potential.

If you could just scrap the gear and recraft it, the missives would be pointless.

You’ve been able to make the wrong BOP crafted items using expensive and rare materials since…forever. Has nothing to do with profession changes.

Those words 100% never came out of my mouth and do not insert words into my mouth for me. Thanks.

Guilds have crafters but there’s also folks that craft independently.

We also didn’t have quality to worry about or recipes that dropped from various content / having to put skill points into to learn how to make.

And we aren’t there yet. Good to know though for then.

This is exactly why it’s much more locked in actually : it’s massively more powerful than what we had in BfA which covered 2 slots.

Won’t be long.

Yeah but in legion and BFA, you could break down the engi goggles in Obliterum and Shred Master MK1 to get your BOP items back.

I 100% agree.
