No sound in game (Mac client). Sound ok everywhere else

New M4 Pro Mac mini. Edifier speakers. They work fine everywhere except in game. Audio Output Device settings in game give me two choices: System Default, and NoSound Driver. It’s as if the game just doesn’t recognize the Mini or Edifier. And YES … it used to recognize.

I’m not sure what could have caused this. Sound works in browser / YouTube tests, and other Mac System effects.

What to try?
