SoO was the first raid to have a mythic difficulty. SoO had a mythic difficulty before highmaul was available.
no, Siege of Orgrimmar was legacy content before it received the name change to mythic.
This bothers me less than the conundrum of what shade of pink invisible pink unicorns are!
It was the current raid tier when it got a mythic difficulty.
no it was legacy content as the WoD pre-patch had already been released and Cutting Edge was no longer obtainable.
Raids are only considered to be “Current Tier” when Cutting Edge is available.
Please note the standard form of Cutting Edge achievements as I list it below:
Cutting Edge: Fyrakk the Blazing
Defeat Fyrakk the Blazing in Amirdrassil, the Dream’s Hope on Mythic difficulty, before the release of the next raid tier.
No other raid had been released and it objectively was the first raid with mythic difficulty by your own admission.
Nope, everything got pushed up, just looked up the release dates. Heroic SoO was changed in WoD pre-patch to Mythic.

Scroll down to the patch notes section.
Yeah, it’s a rebranding that happened in SoO. Making SoO the first raid with mythic.
please take a look at the Siege of Orgrimmar Cutting Edge achievement here at wowhead:
Cutting Edge: Garrosh Hellscream (25 player) - Achievement - World of Warcraft (wowhead.com)
Defeat Garrosh Hellscream on 25-Player Heroic difficulty, before the release of patch 6.0.
see thats the thing about new expansions: the pre-patch always ends the current season and releases the content for the next season.
When heroic Siege of Orgrimmar was changed to Mythic Siege of Orgrimmar, Highmaul had already been put into the retail game. Players could not yet access it because they weren’t max level but Highmaul became the current tier on the first day of pre-patch release.
Why are you being this pedantic over something so stupid?
Highmaul wouldn’t be available for almost 5 months from the pre patch your talking about. From that 5 months “heroic” forever became mythic, which started with that raid.
I could ask you the same thing.
Patch 6.0 was the end of Cutting Edge and Ahead of the Curve for Siege of Orgrimmar (as stated in the wowhead achievement description).
The ending of CE and AOTC is when the raid ceases to be current content and become legacy content.
According to wowhead, CE Siege of Orgrimmar ended on the release of patch 6.0, prior to the heroic raid being name changed to Mythic.
Have a lovely day, nothing further here needs to said.
Thank you so much for your wonderful contributions today, i truly enjoyed reading them oh so much, my friend
Nah, you really couldn’t, seeing as I just showed up.
Here, let me see if I can help you understand:
-
Mythic was retroactively added to Siege after it was no longer considered current content. So, completing it on Mythic after the Warlords of Draenor prepatch did not award the Cutting Edge mount. Likewise, completing it on Heroic after the prepatch did not award the AOTC mount.
-
The mount came from a different definition of Normal raiding. Sitting there yelling “It came from Normal!!!” means nothing when you refuse to acknowledge the context of Normal not being the same thing now that it was prior to the Warlords of Draenor prepatch. Prior to that prepatch, 10m/25m raiding still existed, and Flex more or less became the bridge. So, to illustrate:
LFR => LFR
Flex Raiding => Normal Raiding
Normal 10/25 => Heroic Raiding
Heroic 10/25 => Mythic Raiding
Does that make more sense to you now?
ok, so patch 6.0 was released on October 14, 2014. (simply search google for release date of patch 6.0 Warlords of Draenor).
Highmaul was released on December 2, 2014. (simply search google for Highmaul Release date)
October 14, 2014 - December 2, 2014 = 50 days (50 days does not equal five months)
that is pretty a standard release schedule for pre-patch and the opening of the next raid.
Please do note that the release date of the next raid does mean the date that it was added to the game.
As the assets for Highmaul and its loot table and accompanying achieves were added on the date of the pre-patch on October 14, 2014 (meaning that on October 14, 2014, you could look into your achievement tab, choose Dungeons and Raids, then choose the Highmaul tab and view the Highmaul achievements)
That’s 6.0.2.
Patch 6.0.0 was released 5/5/2014. Patch 6.0.0 is what changed heroic to mythic. I know for a fact that you could still get aotc (and thus the mount) after this date because my achievement is after this date.
actually that is incorrect but thanks again for your contributions to the thread, i thoroughly enjoyed reading through them.
have a lovely day, friend
look again at your achievement for ahead of the curve: garrosh hellscream (10 player)…
it expressly states
Defeat Garrosh Hellscream on 10-Player Normal difficulty or higher, before the release of patch 6.0.
Mythic difficulty didn’t come out until the pre patch for WoD.
Raid modes were
Lfr
10/25 man Normal
10/25 man heroic
And 25 man raids had a chance to drop what were called warforged items, which had increased ilvl or sockets.
After the pre patch there was
Lfr
Normal
Heroic
Mythic
That was highmaul
