No socket item for season 3?

Is it an oversight that there is no item for adding sockets to gear for season 3?

Nope, people cried about the other ones.

I miss coloured sockets on every gear

As far as I am aware Blizzard didn’t comment on the lack of a gem socket adding item. They also failed to reply to people who repeatedly commented on how many conduits are simply unavailable past 252 unless you clear high end content and acquire the item that boosts all conduits to 278.

My guess is this is just another one of the casualties of them compromising to meet deadlines. As it stand Cosmic Flux is EVERYWERE and there are only about 3 things it will be used for. Legendary crafting for rank 7, Non tier set to tier set item conversion and buying the Unity runecarver memory. Cosmic Flux is a step in the right direction but it should also be used for buying conduit upgrade one by one and getting the socket item.

You get 268? (Whatever the next rank is) from heroic raid / m+ 15s.

And then yeah the 278 from basically beating the game in the content you want… so just treat it as conduits end at 268 pretty much.

No, it’s most definitely because of all the people who complained for 6 months that there were things to get from going to Korthia.

I read this forum every day of 9.1 and never saw a post about S2 socket item. Where the heck is the outrage about sockets hiding?

You misunderstand. It’s not “I’m angry there are sockets”. It’s “I don’t want to actually play the game by going to Korthia so I’m going to stamp my feet and complain until Blizzard removes everything from the game that isn’t an instance”. And that’s how we got Zereth Mortis - a zone with absolutely no point except a one-time 7-chapter storyline.

It seemed to me most people found Korthia annoying, but there was nothing about Korthia that required it to be the place to farm sockets for gear. For one, Torghast is mainly where you farm sockets for season 2 gear since it’s 3 quick runs and done vs 3-4 days of dailies in Korthia. For two, there’s not really any reason to lock a socket item everyone wanted in 2 limited areas of the game that both have very limited benefit from sockets. Everything gives 9.2 money, you get it from pvp, torgy, world quest, raid, and dungeon. And yet, there is no purpose to this currency currently, and it is the perfect currency to use for something like a socket item. Blizz likes to take 1 step forward and 5 step back lol

Can’t you get mounts, pets, mats, transmog, achievements, and decent catch up gear in ZM?

And the currency needed to by the second leggo belts?

I get the sense some self-proclaimed “raid-loggers” actually get a thrill out of their ability to earn exclusive power due to the fact that they are unemployed and can grind all day (not saying that’s definitely the case here but… :man_shrugging:).

For the rest of us, the structure of Zereth Mortis is a massive blessing. It’s a great way to farm Cosmic Flux, and side-note for everyone you’ll need more than 10k Flux per character you play, possibly more depending on how many leggos you need or how many times you recraft tier pieces for ilvl. Beyond that however, if you don’t care about the conduit unlocks on your alt, or farming mogs, or farming pets, or farming mounts, or farming new craftin materials… you can just not do it and that’s a good thing.

I welcome the lack of the socket item. Minimal power boost for excessive farming, which becomes mandatory at one point.

Even if there was sockets then blizzard would give the gem to you for free after 5 minute long quest, BUT (there is always a but, this is blizzard) in order to equip it you will need to have exalted reputation and 5 million of the new currency.

One of the only things Ive seen with sockets so far is a chestpiece I got in ZM. This is a link but its inaccurate as it shows two prismatic sockets, whereas the one my mage got has a single crystallic socket. I think there is at least one other piece that has a similar socket.

Rather wish it did have two prismatic sockets…
