Followed up by Nathanos stating that he knew “one who could”.
Why is it so hard to believe that a single night elf could defeat five Horde soldiers? We’ve seen many feats that are much greater than that, before. It was the middle of the night, in the night elven forests of Ashenvale, he ambushed them, and night elves were stated by Grommash to be “perfect warriors”. Furthermore, it was a druid, so he had magical capabilities. The cinematic makes it sound like Malfurion’s actions should have been nigh impossible.
Terran said that orc has only really ever fought like civilians, not actual any powerful night elves, he seemed to imply that orc never really fought any night elf soldiers. That explanation aside, night elves are seen as a punching bag race maybe that will change in the future.
I think they’re 7 1/2, but I’m not sure if that’s Chronicle/Traveler or old lore. Regardless, size doesn’t mean much when it’s a veteran(presumed, since she lost an eye) soldier against civilians. Terran seemingly knows what night elves are supposed to be, which means the orc would be in for a shock against any trained Kaldorei soldier.
I said as much in a thread when the cinematic came out. As I Druid, I learned Bear Form at a low level. I learned Entangling Roots at a low level. And I routinely take out much larger forces, solo, than a lightly guarded caravan. The only reason my Entangling Roots doesn’t drag people underground is probably mechanics. It’d be pretty unfair to give Druids and inescapable ‘I win’ button.
She really must have only fought Night Elven civilians. I hope one of them is what took out her eye.
Who cares, if he is going to claim ‘the horde fears the night elves’ then turn around and have random orc have no fear of them whatsoever, he contradicts himself and is just giving lines to placate angry fans. You don’t need to be an archdruid to kill off 4 random horde soldiers. A single random blood elf rogue can kill 4 seasoned sentinels with ease. This is just more BS from a lying dev team intent on stringing along night elf fans.
She was really commenting on the fact that she didn’t expect Blizz to ever write a scenario where night elves actually won something. I didn’t think Blizz was capable of that either!
Generally when anyone of any race takes out a caravan by themselves, wiping out several combatants near-instantaneously, it generally tends to boggle some minds.
The orc commander there is, as stated, not too well versed in combating Night Elves, and by extension hasn’t seen much Archdruiding. I mean, to be fair, Archdruids aren’t a common thing either.
And to play Sargeras’ advocate, I’d expect even Night Elf civilians are on par fairly capable combatants in their own rights, even if not up to the snuff of their people in the Sentinels or trained as druids and such.
In this thread, people who haven’t actually watched the interview where he says she witnessed conflicts with civilians whilst on patrol (which is an extremely vague sentence that could mean a million things, of course theres going to be conflict with the locals when you’re laying claim to parts of their homeland) and then later says she fought sentinels while defending the Barrens.
Blizz needs to put a link to all these interviews in one place, because having them scattered out all over MMO Champ, WoWhead, and whatnot is making it impossible to keep track of the information from them.
To be fair, it seems implied that with the Blood Elf paladin these are equivalents to player characters despite being NPCs. Especially when you consider that 5 players is the cap for a normal group. That in mind, it could’ve easily been a pretty well guarded caravan for the caliber of soldiers defending it, while allowing for the platoon of grunts being deployed elsewhere.
Of course, five players isn’t any good against a raid boss.
