I have been building and defending the platform in hard mode 3 times, with the corresponding weapon; the npcs become irradiated, and the golems appear, all correctly.
I always have room in my backpack.
All 3 times I didn’t get a reward. Nothing. I didn’t even get anything in the mail.
I only ask that you inform me if it really doesn’t work, this bug or whatever because it costs a lot to repair the platform… not at all. Let’s not even talk about achieve.

I’m encountering the same issue. I’m only missing the triumph of gnomer for Mecha-Done and apparently this is the only way to get it 100% as I’ve been farming it for years… And the hard mode rig doesn’t reward anything. I’ve spent countless spare parts on it

The only thing I have noticed is that the messages do not appear on the screen when you are going to do the final encounter with the irradiated golems.
Does the same thing happen to you?
My situation is like yours, the only achievement I need to finish Mechagon, and on top of that it costs many elements to activate the platform to do the encounter.

I am having the same issue. I get the messages for the waves of adds but nothing for completing whether on hard mode or not.

This was broken with TWW, then it was fixed, but now it is broken again. The event is not tracked in the Objective tracker and no rewards are given when it is completed.

I just did this three times on three different servers with three different characters and can confirm it is still broken. I submitted a bug report and with the Jani mount coming soon and the mechadone achievement needed for that blizzard NEEDS to actually look at this. It’s a waste of time and a terrible design given that any random can come by and kill a slime you need to buff… the thought process isn’t there by blizzard.

Just did the event again, I was the only person in the area who contributed/built the rig, event starts with no progress bar, I hit all 20 elementals with the hammer (which is a feat in itself) completed the event, plenty of inventory space, no loot.
