Odin, you gave one single reason to add warmode to classic. The reason you gave was easily refuted because you can already do that in classic. Do you have a second reason we can discuss?
Warmode sounds lame af
Do you realize what you are saying? You are basically saying “no don’t attack me because i’m not ready. Let me level up and gear up and get every advantage I can and then your allowed to attack me, but only if I turn on this toggle”
“World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Discovery”
All official sources and promotional material I’m seeing do, in fact, say “Classic” in just as big letters as it has since 2019. The “Season of Discovery” board is under the “WoW Classic” forum category. To play, you launch not the live client, or Wrath client, or its own client, but the Classic client, to connect to the SoD servers.
(Not to mention that we’ve been told several things are not doable specifically because it’s on the Classic client; I wouldn’t be surprised if this were another thing that falls under that category, but I won’t say in any certain terms.)
…Okay, I’m not exactly in the loop on the “layer-hopping” thing, but it sounds like this has been an issue in Classic, and it sounds like this is an even bigger way to abuse it, rather than just enabling PvP when you want on a PvE realm, or accepting that you rolled on a PvP realm. On a PvE realm, you already consent to all the PvP you partake in; this would be the exact same, just having to go to Org/SW to type “/pvp”.
This feels like someone saying “more options are always better” while ignoring that it’s actually removing most options and leaving only one option.
That isn’t enabled by War Mode. That’s enabled by Chromie Time.
If you’re level 61 in Dragon Isles with War Mode on, you can get clapped by a 70 in Mythic Raid Gear.
- Some people want to PVP but not get ganked (no one pvp’s on a pve server so terrible example)
- Some classes are just plain bad at pvp, especially solo pvp
- PVP servers are fine if you only play one character, but bad for leveling alts
- At the end of the phases people get bored and camp players for hours on end, great gameplay.
Your assuming I don’t like to play PVP, I would just like to be able to play an alt outside of an instance. Not to mention PVE servers historically have lower populations so why would someone make a character on a sever that will potentially be dead in 3 months?
“Everyone else is having fun but ME. Fix it NOW.”
I make no assumptions, I look at what you post. Based on what you have posted, I would reccommend you play on a PVE server. I’m starting to question if you are really playing SOD. I have leveled many alts, my friends have leveled many alts, my guild members have leveled many alts. I hear nobody claim that it is difficult in any way due to griefers.
This is my exact thought every time I see a controversial sock puppet thread.
Dumb idea.
If you want warmode, then go play retail.
Better yet … roll on a pve server and you can turn pvp mode off and on at your discretion.
You’re welcome.
Next…
Edit:
I had to laugh at this one. I have 5 level 25’s and a 16 in the oven. I play only on PvP servers.
Never once had a problem leveling.
Hilarious excuse.
Trolling sock puppet here folks, nothing to see. Truly surprised they even have a follow up response.
This still happened in War Mode. Max level, raid geared players AFK camped the entrance of the cave to Ve’nari’s Refuge in the Maw and killed me all the time while I was leveling at the end of Shadowlands.
Next.
These people play on PVE servers and join battlegrounds.
This makes no sense. If your class is bad at solo pvp, how does warmode help this. You will be bad at solo pvp when warmode is off, and you will be bad at solo pvp when warmode is on.
This is completely made up by you. Your opinion with no evidence to back up your claim.

Ayo, I don’t think OP has ever even played Warmode in the most recent expansion’s zones.
This mans is talking about doing War Mode in Chromie Time lmao.
The best part is OP asked for a reason not to have warmode. OP can’t give a single reason to add warmode.
Let me guess. PvP happened on a PvP server and the OP came to complain about it.
New and exciting.
OP is out here in 2024 Retail encountering one person a day in Stranglethorn Vale at lvl 37 talking about “ah yes, this is what peak PvP looks like”.
So your trying to tell me that you can’t play in warmode from 61-70?? CAP next… I’m ganna ignore your other character cause the trolling is quite clear and it’s obvious your only character is a hunter.
I’ve got no problem with PVP, but the 50 year old’s who play this game don’t know how to adjust to anything that isn’t in their rigid view of the game from 20 years ago. I will be happily PVPing outside Ironforge for 10-18 hrs a day come next phase. Might even do what someone on my server did and make 10 hunters with pets on aggressive.
True. My first character in 2006 was a warrior on a PvP server. Once I got to STV and started getting demolished, I… re-rolled to a PvE server, and don’t see what issue lies therein.
Not untrue, though I don’t believe most classes/specs are designed with solo PvP in mind. Even in Legion, BfA, and Shadowlands, different specs were wildly different in solo open world PvP. There was this one aff lock during Legion in particular who always had my number when I was playing an elemental shaman.
As I said, re-rolled on a PvE server after hitting STV. Instead of dredging through leveling once while getting ganked, then dredging through it again, I just cut out the horror of leveling on a PvP server wholesale. Why would I want to do it even once if I found it that bad? And if I’m coming to a vanilla-based game, why would I roll on a PvP server if I didn’t even want to do it over 17 years ago?
This is an issue with people, not the game itself. Some people raid log. Some people make alts. Some people unsub until the next phase/tier/expansion. Some people camp lowbies. None of these are wholly avoidable - save the last, which can be avoided by rolling on a PvE server.
On the US client, excluding AU servers(because woof, dat latency), there’s exactly one PvE server and one RP PvE server. People that don’t want to get ganked don’t exactly have a massive choice, and I wouldn’t be surprised if a large amount of these players would have quit before 2023 were over if there was no PvE server. Thing is, every single person on a PvE server has the option to flag themselves for PvP, and if you’re concerned about getting ganked while leveling, did you consider that maybe other people do enjoy world PvP, but not getting ganked while leveling, and may consider just flagging themselves at level cap, while geared, and consenting to any PvP encounters at that point?
Here’s an experiment: Get to the level cap of whatever phase is currently going on. Get whatever gear you think you need before PvPing. Type “/pvp” and go run around the world. I can assure you people will attack you now and then. You may not even know they’re flagged for PvP until you’re attacked, because they may not even be flagged until they see you’re flagged! And if this happens, you’re not getting “ganked,” rather you’re putting yourself into danger mode without taking any precautions.
Holy crap what is this reading comprehension?
I’m saying if you do play warmode anywhere between the range of 60-69, you can get clapped by a 70 player in full BiS. He’ll walk up and global you.
Yet, you keep mentioning not being grieved by max level raid gear players as a reason to bring War Mode to SoD, when I can say with certainty War Mode has not fixed that problem and in certain cases only made it worse like it did in my Maw example during Shadowlands.
There isn’t one.
Yes, they effectively killed pvp servers.
This is a risk you take on when you make the choice to roll on a pvp server. You just want to have your cake and eat it too, take all the fun aspects of a pvp server but remove all the risks.
And funny thing is, you could have your cake and eat it to on a PvE server, where you can consent to world pvp whenever you want; warmode.
