No profession knowledge catch-up?

Each week that goes by, it becomes harder for someone start a new character with a new profession. With everyone far ahead of you, the profession knowledge you can get in a week is gated.

These points should be available through quests or something else.

This game isn’t supposed to be inclusive.

I don’t think there should be catch-up for that

That is not something WoW has ever had catch up mechanisms for. The closest they have come is to have each expansion separate so you don’t have to level Tailoring Vanilla through Shadowlands before you can start Dragonflight. It used to be way harder.

This is already the sort of “easy” version of crafting. It is not meant to be something people can quickly max out and not everyone is expected to be equally good at it.

That really is not how WoW professions work. I am sure the Devs might read your suggestion, but I doubt that would do more than they already have to ensure professions are easier to level per expansion.

I agree to thst. I came in late and I’m doing great with skinning and leather working. Its really easy. If it got easier, I’m not sure it’d be worth it at all.

if you are behind you can pick up knowledge from random things. i got some knowledge from some dirt piles.

So what? Professions never got overhauled before either.

This argument is bad and you should feel bad.

everyone can pick up knowledge from dirt piles, up to like 7 a week.

Every week you haven’t farmed treasures, done the knowledge quests, and work orders / rare gathering items, is a week you are behind in knowledge.

Same for Darkmoon Fair. If you don’t do it, you fall behind.

WoW crafting has never had specialization/profession knowledge like this before, so this doesn’t really mean anything.

It sucks how easy it is to fall behind in knowledge - and therefor fall behind in how useful your profession is. There needs to be a catch up mechanic, even if it’s just “you can keep looting knoweldge items from open world chests/dirt piles/etc until you’ve got up to the current weekly cap” type thing.

My alts seem to get force fed knowledge upgrade tokens from just about everything.

Professions have never worked like this before. Maybe I’m crazy, but this is 100% the same kind of system as Artifact Knowledge and Azurite Power. But on a profession system. Fully how it was able to merit a catchup back then you didn’t get penalized for not being able to play a week or starting late.

I was not really thinking about it like that, but that is a point. Do you think the Devs would consider crafting knowledge as essential to character power and progression as Artifact Knowledge or Azurite power? Those were critical to being able to do dungeons, raids, and even overworld content.

Would you think the Devs consider crafting to fall into the same category that it requires catch up?

I was not thinking of it as similar enough to warrant it. Maybe there is an argument for it that I am not thinking of? Something that the Devs would agree to?

Except you don’t fall behind. Knowledge comes from all sorts of places.

This.

It absolutely isn’t.

I think everyone in here needs to read this guide and understand how many points you can really get:

It really isn’t a good point, though.

Except you do. The number of sources is irrelevant when the total you can earn in a week is capped.

Read the guide, learn something.

No part of the guide indicates that the amount you earn from limited sources increases if you didn’t earn them in previous weeks. Maybe you should read it.

They’re capped per week, fyi.

It is. You won’t be able to catch up to people because of the weekly lockouts on gaining from random sources outside of the ‘first’ time.

Yes you should. But everyone on the forums that knows you, knows you won’t.

Try reading all of the repeatables and how much you can get. Because there’s a ton. If you can’t be bothered to read through the whole thing and understand how much actually exists, that’s a you problem.

You get a ton of knowledge and it just naturally goes up as you level new professions. If you’re starting on alts, then welcome to starting on alts: you’re starting from scratch like you do every time.

I read the guide, honey. I know how it works. The knowledge is a crap ton that you can get and doesn’t keep you from being able to level and use professions in any way that’s detrimental.

Maybe y’all need to actually level professions on alts and comprehend how much is actually out there.

Ah
personal attacks for no reason. Good riddance to you.

Considering you can craft MYTHIC QUALITY gear??

Uhhhhhhh yeah. lol

To say nothing of the fact that many of us are still trying to “catchup” to the people that CHEATED in the first week.

Nevermind alts. What about those of us on our MAINS that started off behind those that CHEATED??

This system is a great IDEA. But it was horribly implemented, exploited, and now we’re stuck with everyone ONLY wanting 5q items
because each server has that ONE GUY that can make 5q items.

Why would you settle for 3-4q when you can get 5q??

And I don’t know about other servers, but on my cluster, the people that control the markets all exploited in that first week. When a guy has 10,000+ Artisan’s Mettle
 uhhhhhh yeahhh
no one playing the game straight could possibly have that. But are any of them punished??? NEWP!

Instead, because they cheated, they now have HUNDREDS of millions in gold because EVERYONE on the server is buying from just 1-2 people.

BUSTED
 SYSTEM
 that requires TOO MUCH TIME.

But people want to force late-comers/alts to have to grind 2-3 months of Knowledge?? WHY?? How does that make the game better??

being behind in a profession doesn’t stop you from getting mythic quality gear.
